The Trade in Babies: Forced Adoption in Australia

Finally this issue is seeing more light in the media.

WE have finally been given recognition through the senate enquiry!!!!!)
Many many lives have been destroyed, and many have succumbed to suicide, and despair.
As an adopted person who was illegally stolen off my mother, during 1968, as a tiny baby, I fully support an inquiry and would like to see those, who,responsible for such anti human actions within this conspiracy be accountable for the suffering of hundreds of thousands of Individuals and Families..

Brian Hoolahan could do nothing but watch the joy of childbirth turn to horror for hundreds of young women.

During his days as a medical student at the Crown Street Women's Hospital in Sydney, the Nowra obstetrician repeatedly saw babies taken from their unwed teenage mothers moments after birth.

"I remember the girls calling out 'I just want to touch my baby, please let me see my baby' and they were crying and howling and it was the most horrific thing I've ever seen in my life,"

A Senate inquiry into how tens of thousands of young mothers were forced to give up their children for adoption between the 1940s and 1970s will hand down its findings tomorrow.

In the 1971-72 financial year, about 10,000 children were adopted in Australia, compared with 384 last financial year.

The inquiry heard harrowing claims that babies were taken against their mothers' will and that women were pressured, deceived or threatened in order to secure signatures on adoption consent forms.

"If a teenage girl got pregnant in those days, as soon as she showed she was whisked out of her family environment, her home town and put in a home in a hospital like the one I spent time at in Sydney," Dr Hoolahan said.

"They'd be there for maybe 20 weeks of their pregnancy, then have their babies and they went off home as though they'd been away on a trip or holiday and nobody ever knew they were pregnant.

"A former social worker has told how she was instructed to actively encourage young unmarried mothers to give up their babies for adoption at a Sydney hospital in the 1970s.

The woman, who wishes to be known only as "Jan", was a trainee social worker at Sydney's Royal Hospital For Women when it was run by the Benevolent Society in 1972.

She has told ABC1's Four Corners she has always felt awful about her part in pressuring young unmarried women 40 years ago.

"Basically my job was to shut them up, stop them crying, get them to realise that giving up their baby was the best thing that they could do and get on with it," she said.

Jan says it was made clear to her by her superiors that adoption was the only message to be delivered to unmarried mothers.

"I was one of the people who was involved with telling the girls that if they kept their baby they were being selfish. They were being selfish to the baby and selfish to the adopting parents who really wanted to have a child," she said.

Precise figures are not known, but it has been estimated that up one quarter of a million women gave their children up for adoption in Australia between the 1920s and 1980s.

Many of those women now claim they were given no choice but to surrender their babies for adoption in the face of family and social pressure.

Some claim they were drugged and restrained before giving adoption consents.

A Senate inquiry is due to report on Wednesday after 12 months of gathering evidence from hundreds of relinquishing mothers across Australia.

Some mothers claim the signatures on their adoption consents were forged while others allege that they were wrongly told their babies were dead, only to be contacted by grown children years later.

Women whose babies were taken from them moments after birth through forced adoptions do not believe a formal apology from the federal government will put back the pieces of their lives.

Today the Senate Community Affairs Committee will present the findings of its 18-month inquiry into forced adoptions, in which vulnerable, young unmarried Australian women were coerced into giving up their babies, lied to and brutalised in the hours and days following giving birth.

For adoption campaigner Lily Arthur, whose newborn son was taken from her in 1967, reparations will need to include financial support for counselling and mental health issues suffered by women enduring decades of grief, shame and post-traumatic shock.

Ms Arthur, who is one of 130 women who travelled to Canberra to be present in the Senate for the report to be tabled this afternoon, said an apology would ring hollow.

‘‘When a woman has suffered decades of mental anguish, and had her basic common law and human rights abused, an apology doesn’t change anything.’’

Many women who suffered a forced adoption had gone on to lead lives plagued by mental health issues, drug or alcohol abuse and higher suicide rates.

Ms Arthur, who is the coordinator of Origins : Supporting People Separated through Adoption, said survivors of forced adoption required reparation such as access to counselling, increased Centrelink support and better access to records.(end snip)

What a terrible form of abuse.

What legacy did that leave?

What effect did that have on the baby that was "taken" or "relinquished"...forcibly abandoned.

They knew back in the 1940's what happens to people when they are abandoned or separated from their mothers as babies..THEY KNEW.

These babies were also placed within abusive and violent homes, with no checks being made into the mental stability of the "adopting Parents" whose motivation to adopt was purely selfish.

What a sick social experiment..creating whole multi generations of dysfunctional and damaged human beings, who have a heightened risk of suicide and other deep depressive ONGOING mental health problems.

Australian governments must formally apologise to mothers and children who were victims of past forced adoption practices, a parliamentary inquiry has recommended.

Between the 1950s and 1970s, about 150,000 Australian unwed mothers had their babies taken against their will by churches and adoption agencies.

The report by a Senate inquiry investigating the Commonwealth government's involvement in past forced adoption practices was tabled in the upper house today with 20 recommendations.

The committee recommended a formal Commonwealth government apology, as well as similar statements from state and territory governments and non-government institutions involved."

Well it's been an interesting week down here politically wise.
The media pundits have been frothing at the mouth like rabid dogs, and the lackeys of the installed Gillard government have been cornered like screetching cats, hissing, spitting and vitriolic against our ex prime minister who was deposed, funilly enough on the feast day of John the Baptist,back in 2010 (june 24th) who "lost his head" as our country also lost it's head..

Now our country has lost it's mind...
Or has it ?
Our ex PM, Kevin Rudd, wants his job back
(i don't blame him)
after being deposed by a bunch of zionist, incompetents.
This is after he had critisised Israel on the Dubai Hit involving "forged passports" and Support for a two state solution in Palestine plus a couple of other obvious screw ups..the right wing labor faction in this country has quite a few zionists so, of course they got pee'd off and got the B'nai Brith into "damage" mode through their media mates..Business as usual.
Divide and conquer..all that stuff.

We have many zionists in Govt and public service here so there seems to be a divide..the right wing of the Australian Labor Party is enmeshed with them IMO...So vile and so obvious.,

The PRECARIAT

The precariat is you and me

Forty years ago, it was widely predicted that by now everybody would be working for income for about 20 hours a week, living in security and in professional positions of some kind. Instead, we have experienced the growth of a new and dangerously angry class, the precariat.

Millions of people across the world, including many Australians, are living and working in economic and social insecurity, many in casual or short-term, low-paid jobs, with contracts they worry about. Their incomes fluctuate unpredictably, they lack benefits that most people used to take for granted.

No paid holidays, no sick leave, no subsidised training, no worthwhile pension to look forward to, and no assurance that if they lose their job they will be able to rely on state benefits or other assistance.

The precariat is a global phenomenon. It is not just a matter of economic insecurity. As bad is the fact that many people have no dignifying occupational identity. They do not feel they are becoming somebody, or doing the types of work they would like or what they had been led to expect when they pursued all those years of schooling. They feel cheated. And what helps define the precariat is a feeling that they must do a lot of work that is not remunerated.

Our labour and economic statistics do not reveal the realities of the precariat. They were designed for another age, and conceal an enormous amount of work that is not treated as of economic value.

In a new book, I have tried to map out the characteristics of the growing precariat. Since writing it, I have been inundated by emails from people identifying themselves as part of the precariat, and have been invited to over 80 venues around the world. Everywhere, people come up to say that they, their children, their relatives or their neighbours are part of it or feel they could be there any day.

The precariat consists of three main groups - those falling out of working-class jobs and communities, those who accept insecurity because they have never had any better, and those who are educated and are experiencing status frustration. The first group tends to want the past back, without any prospect of all those stable jobs returning; the second group, made up mainly of migrants, the disabled, minorities and so on, tends to drift into the margins of society; the third group is what exploded into the streets and squares of great cities last year, in the Occupy movement, in EuroMayDay parades across Europe, in the indignados in Madrid, in Athens and in the Middle East.

Politicians must wake up to the realities of the precariat. Why should they care? First, we are all at risk. Nobody should be smug. Second, anybody in the precariat is vulnerable to recurrent poverty, leading to a loss of capacity to sustain a life of dignity, drifting into debt, in and out of meaningless jobs.

Third, the precariat suffer from the four "A's" . They are anxious, because they face risks everywhere they turn. The biggest source of anxiety is uncertainty. Economists know you cannot insure against uncertainty, because one cannot work out the probability of an adverse event. When one's fate is determined by ecological shocks or by decisions taken on the other side of the world, who is hurt is largely a matter of luck. But we make society worse by spreading fear. We fear being uncompetitive, we fear not being able to meet targets that are unrealistic or unnecessary, we fear being inadequate and being unable to change fast enough.
The precariat also suffer from what sociologists call anomie, a feeling of despair of escape from the insecurities and meaninglessness.

This goes with what I have called the precariatised mind, a fancy term for a pressurised feeling that we must do a lot of activities merely to keep in touch, in order to minimise our chances of disaster. We flit, doing a little of this and a little of that, checking emails in a vain hope, talking to friends online who are just names to give us a feeling of relevance. We look for instant stimulation and gratification. We try to keep options open. All this comes together in what psychologists call an attention deficit syndrome. If we are not careful, we lose the capacity to concentrate.

Then there is the sense of alienation. The precariat tends to think they are not doing what they would like to do, or what they are capable of doing, while having to do a lot of what they do not want to do. They feel underemployed and overemployed, without being in control of their time. Alienation feeds into a lack of empathy with others.

Finally, the anxiety, anomie and alienation are leading to a rising sense of anger. The precariat sees winners on screens, billboards and newspapers, celebrities and absurdly affluent rogues striding the globe with their millions and billions. Meanwhile, they are stressed, and become intolerant towards others - strangers - unless they have the education to see the futility and inappropriateness of that reaction.

The anger is feeding a growing protest movement. Last year was a harbinger of more days of rage. This year and going forward we will see the precariat taking shape as a political force, demanding political parties and governments respond to the insecurities and to their aspirations for a better working identity, through having greater control of their time and more access to the wealth that currently goes to a tiny minority. The anger will surely translate into a progressive agenda for a better society. Watch it grow.

Special OPS Deployed Worldwide

We read that the US military is downsizing and reconfiguring it's self into more of an "underground" terror type "gladio" set up..This has been, on a smaller scale obvious with their covert participation in deep events..external, and internal..with the use of increased robotics, drones, mind control, propaganda, political fronts, nano tech,the whole military industrial complex, the militarization of police forces worldwide, mixed with other support industries including prisons, emergency response, medical, pharma , FEMA, DHS, attached parasitic corporates etc etc.
Plus the highly creepy DARPA and their projects...

Morphing into one demonic beast and hell bent on destroyng the peace and security of the world, the sovereignty of Nations and all the people.

"According to Stars and Stripes, a U.S. Defense Department media outlet, the Pentagon is preparing to “unleash special operations troops worldwide as traditional military operations are cut back.”

The initiatve is presented as a cost-cutting endeavor.

With this new strategy, the

U.S.

switches from large scale theater operations to smaller "cost effective" covert military ops. The latter inevitably result in the violation of the national sovereignty of the targeted country.

U.S. Special Operations Command chief Adm. Bill McRaven, who led the 2011 Bin Laden raid in Pakistan, has proposed that troops leaving the war zones of Iraq and Afghanistan be redeployed in areas “somewhat neglected during the decade-long focus on al-Qaida”.

This would be carried out with a view to easing the launching of raids by Special Forces, such as the one which allegedly killed bin Laden, namely a covert operation which violated Pakistan’s sovereignty.

The deployment of commandos “closer to new crisis zones” will, according to AP, replace “land invasions [like] Iraq and Afghanistan […] by fast and light special operations raids that leave little trace, or better yet, raids by friendly local forces the U.S. has trained, helping fight mutual enemies side by side.”

Those troops could carry out raids or, more likely, work with local allies to teach them how to target regional enemies, as well as fostering long-term relationships, soldier to soldier, that can help defuse a crisis or coup years later.(Kimberly Dozier, Special operations expanding as wars recede, Associated Press, January 27, 2012)

Will that “help defuse a crisis or coup years later” or rather help foment coups?

The goal, according to a Defense official, is to “increase cooperation with foreign armies, working with them to defeat local threats instead of the U.S. shouldering the bulk of such fights”.

AP also reports that “funding for special operations and intelligence-gathering will increase - both emerging as the Obama White House's preferred way to confront many global threats after a decade of costly land invasions in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

Basically the U.S. army is going underground. Worldwide.

AP further notes that “the far-flung special operations commands could also serve as a framework for boosted U.S. interagency cooperation, fusing not just regional allies, but U.S. agencies like the CIA, FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration.”

This new paradigm was obviously showcased during Obama's State of the Union Speech when rather coincidently "Seal Team 6" (the trained seals...) just happened to "rescue" two "aid" workers from somalian pirates...

Overtly and covertly the ongoing infiltration into MANY Soverign COUNTRIES plus the gladio network deep events that are occuring on a regular basis.

We also see that the new changes are not limited, by way of modifying existing "resources"

The Pentagon is wasting no time in modifying its forces to meet the needs of a more specialized and commando-based military.

The Washington Post reports the Pentagon is fast-tracking the conversion of the 1960s warship USS Ponce to use as a "commando mothership" base for special forces teams in the Middle East.

The re-christened Ponce will hold small Combat Rubber Raiding Craft (Zodiac style boats), and helicopters routinely employed by the SEAL teams that are now becoming famous for their successful clandestine operations."

SYRIAN Embassy attacked in Australia: Who Is to BLAME?

The Syrian Embassy in Canberra, Australia's capital was severly damaged and trashed on Saturday, and it was obvious to those who are aware of the situation in Syria that is was not disgruntled ex pat Syrians to blame..It also seemed like the embassy had no "protection" during this time either..as the police/ securtiy took their time to secure the area.

"A spokesman for the Australian Federal Police said the security presence in and around the embassy was increased when it became aware of the heightened risk.

"The incident at the embassy occurred within five to 10 minutes of a mobile patrol being in the area of the embassy,'' the spokesman said."

Interesting, you would think that since there were concerted attacks at Syrian embassies in quite a few countries, the security would be tight in the first place..that is TO HAVE security present at the embassy.

The Canberra attack coincided with similar attacks on embassies in London, Berlin, Athens, Tripoli, Cairo and Kuwait by members of groups opposing the Syrian government, all on the same weekend..so it was an INTERNATIONAL effort.
Concerted.

Coinciding with this attack, as Canberra is about a 5 hour drive from Sydney, there were also "protests" in Sydney..the next day.

The attack on the Canberra embassy was followed on Sunday by a protest in Sydney's Hyde Park in which about 100 demonstrators loudly condemned Russia and China for their veto of a UN resolution condemning violence in Syria.
"Down, down to China ... Down, down to Russia," one protester yelled at Hyde Park.

So, despite this RENT A CROWD... like many others before it..

'Sydney extremists' behind Canberra embassy attack

The Syrian embassy believes "extremists from Sydney" who are not Syrian were behind the attacks at the weekend and has called on the Australian government to take the investigation into the incident seriously.

Embassy charge d'affaires Jawdat Ali said he believed the men that trashed the embassy at the weekend were not locals.

"We think they are from Sydney, they are extremists. We heard their slogans, extremist slogans. This is why we expect that majority of them are not Syrians, they are from different nationalities," he told the ABC.
The Syrian embassy was attacked about 9.30pm on Saturday. About 30 men forced their way into the embassy while three staff members hid in the basement.

According to ACT Policing, the attackers caused "extensive damage" to the ground floor of the embassy. Documents and computers were also stolen in the raid, Mr Ali said.

Mr Ali has labelled the attacks "a terrorising action, a brutal action, a barbarian action".

"I am expecting that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Australian government, responds seriously to this issue," Mr Ali said.

"This act isn't just against the Syrian government, it is against the Australian government, it is against Australian law, against international law too."

Yesterday, Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd expressed "deep concern" about the disturbance at the Syrian embassy.

"The government is fully mindful of its obligations under the Vienna Convention and the proper protection of diplomatic consular personnel and property," he said in a statement. "Such behaviour has no place in Australia."

Yesterday, the Australian Federal Police said that it had been aware of the heightened security risk to the embassy and that a mobile patrol unit was at the scene within five to 10 minutes of the attack.

ACT Policing is reviewing CCTV footage of the embassy raid in a joint investigation with the AFP.
Superintendent Mick Calatzis said a number of people in the local area were helping police with their inquiries.

Both the ACT's Syrian Arab Expatriate Association and the Sydney-based Australian Syrian Association have condemned the Canberra attack." (end snip)

Interest rate watchers see omens from Israel

COULD Israel hold the key to next week's Australian decision on interest rates?

Martin Whetton, an interest rate strategist at Nomura Group, thinks so. He says Australia's Reserve Bank has followed Israel's central bank on 16 of the past 19 occasions it moved rates.

The Bank of Israel has just cut rates for the third consecutive meeting. If Australia's Reserve Bank cuts on Tuesday week it will be the third consecutive occasion.

"It can't be because we both have masses of resources," he says. "But we are both small, open economies, able to navigate our own ways in the world.

"And there are the backgrounds of the people involved. Israel's Stanley Fischer got his doctorate in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Two of the assistant governors under Australia's Glenn Stevens got their doctorates from MIT.

"People from MIT seem prepared to go against the consensus. Both Australia and Israel reacted extremely quickly to the global financial crisis. Each moved from tightening rates to pushing them down in a matter of months.

"Fischer and Stevens are each conservative in that they manage the economy in a conservative way, but they are not bound by conventional wisdom. They are prepared to run their own race."
Mr Whetton says traders in the US look to each of them for guidance on what a forward-thinking bank governor would do.

"It is a case of each being independently ahead of the game. I don't know what relationship they have personally; I couldn't begin to speculate. I doubt if they phone each other before meetings," he said.

Mr Fischer is a former World Bank chief economist and deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund. Last week he denied reports he was interested in seeking Israel's presidency after Shimon Peres steps down in 2014.

''As an economist for many years I believe the career and personal track that I have chosen does not necessarily train me to serve as president," he said.

Mr Stevens's term of governor of the Reserve Bank expires in September 2013. Next month the assistant governor Philip Lowe moves into the No.2 spot as his deputy governor, traditionally a staging post for the top job. He received his doctorate from MIT. (end snip)

It is not clear if his death is related to a crackdown on anti-government demonstrators by Syrian security forces.
"Regardless of the circumstances, the ICRC condemns this very severely," said Beatrice Megevand-Roggo, head of ICRC operations for the Middle East.
She added that the "lack of respect for medical services" remained a major issue in Syria.

While researching for a previous post i came across this..
I thought it was a joke, or a bit of lighthearted humour..but i was wrong.
Interestingly though, some talking head (a quite obnoxious one at that) was blabbering on about the same thing on the teevee the night before, and i caught a sound bite of it whilst searching for the cricket highlights..
I mentioned to my other half, that this "attitude" towards employees and workers is becoming mainstream, and the corporate headspace is actually one of psychopathy, sociopathy and brainless narcissic compliance..
Oh and Yes..I'd be fired, that's for sure..I'm ALL of these three types mentioned in this article rolled into one!!

But some day, when the treasure hunt is over, we’ll also teach them to fire people. Why? After working with the most inventive people in the world for two decades, we’ve discovered the value of a certain item in the leadership toolbox: the pink slip.

Show of hands: How many of you out there in Innovationland have gotten the “what took you so long?” question from your staff when you finally said goodbye to a teammate who was seemingly always part of problems instead of solutions?
We imagine a whole bunch of hands. (Yep, ours went up, too.)
These people—and we’re going to talk about three specific types in a minute—passive-aggressively block innovation from happening and will suck the energy out of any organization.
When confronted with any of the following three people—and you have found it impossible to change their ways, say goodbye.

1. The Victims
“Can you believe what they want us to do now? And of course we have no time to do it. I don’t get paid enough for this. The boss is clueless.”
Victims are people who see problems as occasions for persecution rather than challenges to overcome. We all play the role of victim occasionally, but for some, it has turned into a way of life. These people feel persecuted by humans, processes, and inanimate objects with equal ease—they almost seem to enjoy it. They are often angry, usually annoyed, and almost always complaining. Just when you think everything is humming along perfectly, they find something, anything, to complain about. At Halloween parties, they’re Eeyore, the gloomy, pessimistic donkey from the Winnie the Pooh stories—regardless of the costume they choose.
Victims aren’t looking for opportunities; they are looking for problems. Victims can’t innovate.
So if you want an innovative team, you simply can’t include victims. Fire the victims. (Note to the HR department: Victims are also the most likely to feel the company has maliciously terminated them regardless of cause. They will often go looking for someone—anyone—who will agree that you have treated them unjustly. Lawyers are often left to play this role. So have your documentation in order before you let victims go, because chances are you will hear from their attorneys.

2. The Nonbelievers
“Why should we work so hard on this? Even if we come up with a good idea, the boss will probably kill it. If she doesn’t, the market will. I’ve seen this a hundred times before.”
We love the Henry Ford quote: “If you think you can or think you cannot, you are correct.” The difference between the winning team that makes industry-changing innovation happen and the losing one that comes up short is a lack of willpower. Said differently, the winners really believed they could do it, while the losers doubted it was possible.
In our experience, we’ve found the link between believing and succeeding incredibly powerful and real. Great leaders understand this. They find and promote believers within their organizations. They also understand the cancerous effect that nonbelievers have on a team and will cut them out of the organization quickly and without regret.
If you are a leader who says your mission is to innovate, but you have a staff that houses nonbelievers, you are either a lousy leader or in denial. Which is it? You deserve the staff you get. Terminate the nonbelievers.

3. The Know-It-Alls
“You people obviously don’t understand the business we are in. The regulations will not allow an idea like this, and our stakeholders won’t embrace it. Don’t even get me started on our IT infrastructure’s inability to support it. And then there is the problem of ….”
The best innovators are learners, not knowers. The same can be said about innovative cultures; they are learning cultures. The leaders who have built these cultures, either through intuition or experience, know that in order to discover, they must eagerly seek out things they don’t understand and jump right into the deep end of the pool. They must fail fearlessly and quickly and then learn and share their lessons with the team. When they behave this way, they empower others around them to follow suit—and presto, a culture of discovery is born and nurtured.
In school, the one who knows the most gets the best grades, goes to the best college, and gets the best salary. On the job, the person who can figure things out the quickest is often celebrated. And unfortunately, it is often this smartest, most-seasoned employee who eventually becomes expert in using his or her knowledge to explain why things are impossible rather than possible.
This employee should be challenged, retrained, and compensated for failing forward. But if this person’s habits are too deeply ingrained to change, you must let him or her go. Otherwise, this individual will unwittingly keep your team from seeing opportunity right under your noses. The folks at Blockbuster didn’t see Netflix‘s (NFLX) ascendancy. The encyclopedia companies didn’t see Google (GOOG) coming. But the problem of expert blindness existed well before the Internet.

And “The wireless music box has no imaginable commercial value. Who would pay for a message sent to nobody in particular?” —David Sarnoff’s associates in response to his urgings for investment in the radio in the 1920s.
At one point in his career, Thomas A. Edison had dozens of inventors working for him at the same time. He charged each with the task of failing forward and sharing the learning from each discovery. All of them needed to believe that they were part of something big. You want the same sort of people.
You don’t want the victims, nonbelievers, or know-it-alls. It is up to you to make sure they take their anti-innovative outlooks elsewhere.

"Austere" Challenge 12 Drill Cancelled + Israel Cyber Attack = False Flag Motive

A quick post just to put up some thoughts about the cancellation of the "Austere Challenge 12" drill with Israel and the USA..
There "appears " to be a division here in the handling of the "Iranian " sitaution (but NO mention of Syria)
There also appear to be much pro "attack" propaganda..as we read HERE
OK we know that the US and Israel are Drill Ready..

We also know that in the past week or so, there have been reports of a "Mystery Virus" hacking away at Israeli businessess and organisations..
which we believe could be "internal" ..

But what i'm thinking is that these so called cyber attacks are an excuse for a launch of misslies/ defence sheilds to hit specific targets and then, given the "attack by cyber criminals", not to accept any responsibilites for their own ordinance being used to attack other nations ie Syria and Iran , Lebanon and Turkey for instance..

It's just a thought, but i think a valid one considering what we have seen before in the past.
Concerted efforts, seem and deemed to be impositional, can make for a believable scenario if "Israel" and it's "systems" have a regrettable accident in concert with a sly and coincidental "cyber attack"...and we all know who are the masters of the Cyber attacks in the past as they have FORM.

Iran: Motorcyclists kill military officer

Officials in Khorramabad say motorcyclists fired shots at a group of soldiers who were on their way to an air force base

A 43-year-old Iranian military officer was shot to death on Saturday by two motorcyclists in the city of Khorramabad, local media reported.
The local head of security forces said the incident occurred at 6:30 am. "The search for the assailants continues, and we have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident," he said.
Another soldier was injured in the incident. The two assailants fled the scene, according to reports.
The incident occurred when the motorcyclists fired shots at a group of soldiers who were on their way to an air force base located near the city,

A senior official in the Lorestan province, where Khorramabad is located, said that according to eyewitnesses "many bullets were fired at the soldiers, causing great panic in the area."

The Mehr news agency said the killed mid-level officer was identified as Raze Ali Fimani.

Saturday's incident occurred just 10 days after Professor Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, an Iranian nuclear scientist, was killed when motorcyclists attacked a bomb to his car in northern Tehran.
In October 2010 18 Revolutionary Guard members were killed and a number of others were injured during an explosion at a military base near Khorramabad, located some 480 kilometers (about 300 miles) southwest of Tehran.
Iran said the blast was the result of a fire in a munitions warehouse, but a few weeks later French daily Le Figaro speculated that Mossad was responsible for the explosion, which it claimed was part of a series of covert operations Israel launched to hinder Iran's nuclear program. (end snip)

Marine Corps probe after video emerges showing American troops 'urinating on dead Afghan bodies'

The U.S. Marine Corps today launched an official investigation after footage emerged which showed American soldiers urinating on dead bodies.
The 40-second clip shows four men in combat gear standing over the three corpses with their genitals exposed as they relieve themselves.
At one point one of the men can be heard saying: 'Have a great day, buddy' to laughter from his colleagues.

Another of them jokes: 'Golden like a shower' and 'Yeahhhh!' as they groan with relief whilst urinating.
It is not clear if the corpses belong to civilians or insurgents engaged in combat, although the film does appear to have been shot in Afghanistan.
The anonymous person who posted it included the caption: 'Scout sniper team 4 with 3rd battalion 2nd marines out of camp lejeune peeing on dead talibans
The three corpses are all male and are wearing civilian clothes. The youngest lies on his front with an overturned wheelbarrow dumped by his side.
The other two are on their backs and one has a large blood stain on his chest.
Marines spokeswoman Kendra Hardesty said: 'While we have not yet verified the origin or authenticity of this video, the actions portrayed are not consistent with our core values and are not indicative of the character of the Marines in our Corps.
'This matter will be fully investigated and those responsible will be held accountable for their actions.'

I figure it is time to re-write this article since I seem to be getting many hits on this page from other people who are concerned about seeing the USAISC hitting their web sites.   If you are a web site owner and have seen constant hits from the USAISC on your site, you are not alone.
The USAISC is an Army military network that extends to many military bases. So any person serfing your site out of a military installation may show up in your analytics as a USAISC host hit.  I have been informed previously that the USAISC has been rolled into NETCOM, but apparently their servers are still using the old USAISC host name which is why it is showing up on your site analytics.
Now that I have your attention, I would like to bad mouth my former employers for a bit. The US government is a criminal institution of looting thieves that makes its living by holding a gun to the head of hard working private citizens. In keeping with their criminal ways, the NSA along with other DoD authoritarians, have decided to partner with various corporate interests to monitor US internet activity.
Many files detailing the illegal monitoring of US citizens internet activity by the NSA and other US terrorist organizations can be found here. These programs, as well as many others which we don’t even know about, are a consquence of the Patriot Act which basically removes the 4th Amendment from the US Constitution.
I find it wildly ironic that the US public is paying to have their own lives put under a microscope while real terrorist activity is supported and condoned by the US government.
The US intelligence community is a bunch of savage  non-thinking robots who do the bidding of their political masters, regardless of what the US Constitution says.
Do you feel uneasy about domestic terrorist operations like the CIA and NSA monitoring your online activity? You should. The entire point is to terrorize you into keeping your mouth shut (end snips)

Time to get serious after the Christmas/ New Year break and whilst we have been trying to ignore the current geopolitical situation, it's difficult not to see a slow moving crawl to war in the process..

For the past year at least, there have been the so called "Arab Spring" uprisings that have been orchestrated, and supported by certain Governments and NGO's..the regime changes either by force or persuasion (financial) in numerous countries.INCLUDING Greece, Italy, Turkey, Egypt, Lybia, etc etc

There have been tactical manouverings and alliances formented during this period and the whole thing seems to be leading to a build up of forces and strategic placement of military materiel.

The strangulation of Iran via sanctions and the subversive attack of it's allies, mainly Syria, prompt others to cement ties, Russia and China specifically.

From the deployment of Russian Ships off Syria, and the Support of Iran from China, the "attack" on the British embassy in Iran and the subsequent expulsion of Iran embassy staff from Britain,

The so called withdrawal of troops from Iraq, and the redeploymend of said troops into Jordan,
Plus the very recent Iranian missile tests in the straits of Hormuz and NOW a JOINT military DRILL between THE US and ISRAEL IN ISRAEL, AS Iran announces that they may SHUT DOWN the oil transport lines , Through the straits of Hormuz spells a step forward in the WAR process..to outright war instead of "subliminal", or LOW INTENSITY conflict.

A slow motion WAR...which has already begun on many fronts.

Israeli and US troops gear up for major missile defense drill after Iran maneuvers

JERUSALEM — The Israeli military is gearing up together with U.S. forces for a major missile defense exercise, the Israeli military announced Thursday, as tension between Iran and the international community escalates.

The drill is called “Austere Challenge 12” and is designed to improve defense systems and cooperation between the U.S. and Israeli forces. It follows a 10-day Iranian naval exercise near the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Israel’s military said the drill with the U.S. was planned long ago and is not tied to recent events.
Both Israeli and U.S. officials said the exercise would be the largest-ever joint drill by the two countries.( Ed Note: how convenient is the timing!!)

The Israeli military spokesman did not give a date for the drill Thursday, but a senior military official said it would be in the next few weeks. He said it would be the biggest missile defense drill ever held. He was speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the issue.

The Israeli official said thousands of American and Israeli soldiers from different units would take part. He said the drill would test multiple Israeli and U.S. air defense systems against incoming missiles and rockets. Israel has deployed the “Arrow” system, jointly developed and funded with the U.S., designed to intercept Iranian missiles in the stratosphere, far from Israel.

Martin Van Creveld, a military historian at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said Thursday that the drill was intended not only to practice military maneuvers but also to pressure Iran.

“Defending against an attack is not something that you improvise from today to tomorrow. it’s something you have to prepare, you have to rehearse, you have to prepare for,” Van Creveld said. “This, among other things, is an exercise to show Iran, the people in Tehran, that Israel and the United States are ready to counterattack,” he said.(end snips)

The use of the word COUNTERATTACK is interesting as it sugests that it will be a RETALITORY strike.

Integrated US-NATO-Israel Command Structures

Pursuant to these joint US-Israel games, there are indications that the US is also planning to increase the number of American troops stationed in Israel.

Moreover, these military exercises planned for next Spring are accompanied by a fundamental shift in US-NATO-Israel command structures.

What is now unfolding at Washington's behest is an integration of US-Israel military command structures.

Washington is not a reluctant partner, as some observers have suggested, "with the Obama administration attempting to distance itself" from an Israeli sponsored war on Iran. Quite the opposite!

Given the integration of Israel's air defense system into that of the US, Israel cannot, under any circumstances, wage a war on Iran without the US. Moreover, since mid-2005, following the signing of a protacol between NATO and Tel Aviv, Israel has beocme a de facto member of the Atlantic Alliance.

The Pentagon calls the shots. The planned deployment of US troops in Israel is part and parcel of a US sponsored war.

In the context of the Spring 2012 military drills, the United States military will establish Command Posts in Israel. In turn, Israel's IDF will establish Command Posts at United States European Command headquarters (EUCOM), in Stuttgart, Germany. (Ibid).

The ultimate objective of these command posts is to establish "joint [US-Israeli] task forces in the event of a large-scale conflict in the Middle East", (Ibid). In other words, these task forces will be involved in planning the deployment of troops and weapons systems directed against Iran, with Israel playing an important role as a launchpad for military action.

What these developments suggest is that the war on Iran --which has been on the drawing board of the Pentagon since 2003-- will involve the direct participation of Israel under a unified US military command.

The people of Israel are the unspoken victims of America's global military agenda as well their own government's war plans directed against Iran.

They are led to believe that Iran possesses nuclear weapons when in fact Israel possesses an advanced nuclear arsenal, which is directed against Iran.

The people of Israel as well as Western public opinion, more generally, are also led to believe that Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants "to Wipe Israel off the Map", when in fact this statement was concocted by the Western media, as a means of demonizing the Iranian head of state as well as presenting Iran as a threat to the security of Israel:

Tehran has since 2005 warned that it will retaliate if attacked, in the form of ballistic missile strikes directed against Israel as well as against US military facilities in the Persian Gulf, which would immediately lead us into a scenario of military escalation.

This war would engulf a region extending from the Mediterranean to the heartland of Central Asia. It would have devastating consequences, resulting in a massive loss of life.

What kind of provocation is needed?

Dodgy Brits + Dodgy AK- 47's = Dodgy WAR

Just a quick post this morning as I read that some British/MI6/ Mossad/CIA XE Blackwater spooky types have been busted in Afganistan for supplying dozens of AK-47's to the "baddies" of course with serial numbers ERASED for convienience...you know the GOOD guys don't use those AK's do they...they have always been the "bad guy" gun of choice , like in the movies, you know!

Don't you just love it when this kind of exposure happens, I do!

I'm sure this is NOT an isolated incident either..I wonder why they are letting this little story through?

But what will it take to convince all the sleeping, distracted, in denial and unaware that the reality of these WAR zones and the "enemy" is a totaly contrived, manufactured,. and controlled...to benefit the psychopathic aggressors and to destroy whole Cultures, People and Families. ie the rest of Humanity.
Britons arrested with AKs in Afghanistan

Two British nationals have been detained in the Afghan capital in possession of dozens of AK-47 assault rifles with the serial numbers erased, an Afghan government official said.
"Two British nationals along with their two Afghan colleagues, a driver and a interpreter, were today detained carrying 30 AKs," the official said.

"The weapons' registration numbers were removed from them," the official, who requested anonymity as he was not authorised to speak to the media, told AFP.

Kabul police chief Mohammad Ayoub Salangi confirmed that four people had been detained while carrying weapons.
He would not disclose their nationality and said the case was under investigation.

The government official who spoke to AFP said the Britons were arrested in an area of Kabul where foreign forces have bases and facilities.

The British embassy said it was "aware of reports that British nationals may have been detained in Kabul".
"Our consular officials in Kabul are in touch with the relevant Afghan police authorities to seek further information," a spokesman told AFP.

Afghanistan is home to thousands of foreign private security personnel providing services for foreign troops, diplomatic missions and aid organisations.(end snip)

What I find disgustingly SICK is that these weapons, are provided to a MAKESHIFT enemy which then in turn uses them to KILL..the same nationality of people who supplied them with these weapons....sick, twisted and totally psychopathic..more mockery from those who control the game and the perception of those who support these wars....

I still wonder why stories like these are released to the press..is it more mockery? or just a tidbit getting through the fog, or planning to make the British look bungling and culpable?

But you know it's always interesting, in this case of Afganistan, that the drug trade is humming along nicely and earning billions of black market dollars for the "deep governments" to finance their operations..
All by the misery and suffering of others.

The HEART of the Matter

I was over at Winter Patiot Community blog and got insiped by what James and NJT had been talking about in the comments section of James' awesome post "A Path With Heart – The Christmas Message
So, I decided, due to this immediate inspiration upon reading NJT's comment to include it here on my blog as I feel in my heart it is a very important message and information that must be absorbed and postulated..
firstly lets get to the HEART of the matter...

Did you know that The heart is also the first organ that is being formed in the womb. The rest comes later.

"Follow Your Heart, it is Smarter Than You Think"

Recently, Neurophysicists have been astonished to discover that the Heart is more an organ of intelligence, than (merely) the bodies' main pumping station. More than half of the Heart is actually composed of neurons of the very same nature as those that make up the cerebral system. Joseph Chilton-Pearce, author of The Biology of Transcendence, calls it "the major biological apparatus within us and the seat of our greatest intelligence."

The Heart is also the source of the body's strongest electromagnetic field. Each heart cell is unique in that it not only pulsates in synchrony with all the other heart cells, but also produces an electromagnetic signal that radiates out beyond the cell. An EEG that measures brain waves shows that the electromagnetic signals from the heart are so much stronger than brain waves, that a reading of the heart's frequency spectrum can be taken from three feet away from the body...without placing electrodes on it!

The Heart's electromagnetic frequency arcs out from the Heart and back in the form of a torus field. The axis of this Heart torus extends from the pelvic floor to the top of the skull, and the whole field is holographic, meaning that information about it can be read from each and every point in the torus.

For this transformation to take place, one must learn to meditate, "go into your Heart" and access the inner wisdom of the Universe. It is the only way, it is THE WAY. As each one of us begins this quiet revolution of living from the Heart, we will begin to see it reflected in our lives and in our World. This is how each one of us will create change in the world, create Peace, create Harmony and Balance, and in this way, will we all create the New World Paradigm of Heaven on Earth. (end snip)

Gruss Vom Krampus

Well Christmas is over now..and thankfully Grus vom Krampus didn't visit this house. Not literally anyway.
What an interesting story and tradition.
What horror for children that grew up with the fear of Krampus!
Even I still get creeped out by the Krampus..

If you don't know about Krampus, here is some enlightening information..Maybe this is why kids are scared to sit on Santa Klaus's knee??
"you better be good, you better be nice"...etc

In the Netherlands (where my family hails from) the Dutch have a similar companion to Saint Nicolas called "Black Peter"which is not so manevolent..or scary.

Krampus is a bound devil who escorts the benevolent Saint Nikolo on the eve of his day ~ Nikolo tests the children with their Catechism and good behavior.

If they pass he gives gifts and treats. If they fail, Krampus is set loose to deal with these bad children; worse than lumps of coal & rotten potatoes, he may also use a switch of twigs to beat them and molests the bad children in other ways... giving them a taste of Hell to come.

He comes disguised as the sinister farm hand or servant named Ruprecht in Lutheran lands, because Martin Luther tried to squelch demon superstitions... although his name still harkens to the running demons of the 12 wild nights of winter.

On the eve of Saint Nikolo's Day (December 5th) children are put to bed and warned of their peril. They may avoid a direct visit by leaving shoes outside the door. If they sleep soundly, they will not have to deal with the test, and in the morning of St Nikolo's Day (December 6th) they will find either treats & small gifts in their shoes, or a switch, lump of coal, or rotten potatoes. Parents are expected to use the switch on those children so designated as having been really bad. Perhaps they can heed the warning and behave better until Christmas when the Christ child brings gifts.

What a traumatic way to get childeren to BE good or BEhave...
It sure as hell didn't work on me otherwise there would be no Thirteenth Monkey blog :)

Syria: Prepping for War?

Syria deploys Russian anti-sea missiles on coast, Scuds on Turkish border:

Expanded Russian military and diplomatic support for the Assad regime was underscored by the deployment Friday, Dec. 16, of advanced Moscow-supplied Yakhont (SSN-26) shore-to-sea missiles along Syria's Mediterranean shore to fend off a potential Western-Turkish invasion by sea. Last week, Russia airlifted to Syria 3 million face masks against chemical and biological weapons and the Admiral Kutznetsov carrier and strike group was sent on its way to Syria's Mediterranean port of Tartus.

Russian naval sources in Moscow stressed that the flotilla is armed with the most advanced weapons against submarines and aerial attack. Upon arrival, the Russian craft will launch a major marine-air maneuver in which Syrian units will take part.

Syria has received from Russia 72 Yakhont missiles able to hit marine targets up to a distance of 300 kilometers - i.e., over the horizon, our military sources report. The missile's radar remains inert, making it hard to detect, until it is close to target. It is then switched on to guide its aim.

Its high speed – 2,000 kmh – enables the Yakhont to strike before its target has time to activate self-defense systems.

Thursday night, in response to the deployment of 21 Syrian Scuds on the Turkish border, including five with chemical warheads, Ankara convened its top military council and declared its armed forces ready for war.

Syria also rushed armored reinforcements to the Jordanian border.

debkafile's military and intelligence sources report that the rush of Syrian war moves backed by Russia indicates that both believe a Western-Arab force is on the point of invading Syria.

They are keeping an eye especially on Turkey which is suspected of having obtained a NATO marine and air umbrella, including the US Sixth Fleet, for military preparations aimed at ousting Bashar Assad, so repeating the operation against Libya's Muammar Qaddafi.

The diplomatic flurry around Syria was accentuated by US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta's arrival in Ankara Friday morning to find Turkish armed forces on war preparedness, and Syrian Vice President Farouk A-Shara's landing in Moscow for a crisis conference with Russian leaders.

Thursday night, Dec. 15, debkafile reported:

War tensions around Syria rose alarmingly Thursday night, Dec. 15, when Turkey's top military council convened "to review the armed forces' preparedness for war" in response to the deployment of Syrian missiles, some tipped with chemical warheads, on their common border. debkafile's military sources report the meeting was led by Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan.

The Assad government also rushed armored units in two directions - to the Turkish frontier and also to the Jordanian border opposite the US special operations units from Iraq newly deployed to defend Jordan against a Syrian attack, as debkafile reported on Dec. 13

Our sources report that 21 Syrian missile launchers, five of them Scud D with chemical warheads, are deployed in northern Syria opposite the Turkish Hatai (Alexandretta) district. They were moved up in broad daylight to make sure Western spy satellites and Turkish intelligence surveillance saw them. More are on the way.

In Israel, the IDF announced it was reconstituting the special command for operations behind enemy lines under the command of Brig. Gen. Shay Avital.
Before the military council convened in Ankara, Turkey placed its border contingents, air force and navy on war preparedness.
The official statement said the high military council had "assessed Turkish army needs and necessary steps to address these requirements…"

The Turkish press repeated a statement by Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu in an interview two weeks ago that Turkey does not want to consider a military option for intervention in neighboring Syria as Damascus cracks down on popular protest, but it is ready for any scenario.

The Turkish army has prepared operational plans for seizing parts of northern Syria if the situation there continues to deteriorate. Those plans would essentially carve Syria into two entities, with the Turkish army holding the north and protecting opposition and civilian populations, while the Syrian army and Assad loyalists would remain in control of the central and southern regions.(end snip)

The Goldman Saching of Europe

"I don't want to sound alarmist but it looks like Goldman Sachs has taken over Europe. The continent has succumbed to the dictates of global finance, there was no choice. The bankers are holding us all to ransom and have done since the beginning of the GFC in 2008.

The German government's reaction to its disastrous bond auction a week or so ago, gives a big clue to the real multibillion dollar game being played out in boardrooms from New York to Frankfurt. The most powerful and resilient economy in Europe couldn't get a bid for 35% of its 10 year bonds on offer.
Observers say it was a warning from bankers, on both sides of the Atlantic, do as we say or else!

Germany, through its Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble, had been at the forefront demanding that banks share any sovereign bailout losses that eventuate from the European Stability Mechanism, to be up and running next year. The failed German bond auction was the bank's curt reply and Schaeuble backed down.
Right from the start of the European crisis, the banks have been pulling the strings. Remember when the former Greek Prime Minister, George Papandreou announced a plebiscite, to get popular buy-in for his austerity plan and the markets went bananas and he was excoriated. The markets and the banks, not the Greek people, passed judgement and he had to go.

Across the Ionian Sea, former Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi hadn't done enough to satisfy the self-serving screen jockeys and they turned their weapons, their bond traders, lap dog ratings agencies and share market speculators on Italy. Berlusconi was rumoured to be resigning and the bourse rallied. No, he wasn't going and it fell away again with a promise that it would rocket when he finally and inevitably bowed to massive financial pressure to resign. As night follows day, he was replaced by a euphemism, a technocrat. Nowhere was there much talk about voter's wishes or rights.

All this might have been ameliorated if not avoided had the Obama Administration brought the bankers to heel three years ago by jailing a dozen or so, now it's too late! But of course that was never going to happen when the President's own economic team was drawn from or had strong links with Goldman Sachs. With Summers, Rubin, Geithner and Emanuel it was Wall St. on the Potomac.

That's probably why, in 2008, Goldman Sachs was too big to prosecute. It received more subsidies and bailout funds than any other investment bank. How did Goldman Sachs thank the American people for their largesse? By using billions in taxpayer money to enrich itself and reward its top executives who received, it's reported, mind boggling wage increases and bonuses of $18 billion in 2009, $16 billion in 2010 and $10 billion in 2011.

At the same time, Goldman Sachs offloaded billions in worthless securities helping destroy the global economy. The firm misled investors about the true nature of this worthless junk and hid the fact that it was betting against these same securities. In just one such deal Goldman Sachs is reported to have raked in $2 billion.

Scroll back to 2002. Goldman Sachs covertly bought 2.3 billion Euros in Greek debt, converted it into yen and dollars, and then immediately sold it back to Greece at a supposed loss. Goldman Sachs had struck a secret deal with the then, free-market government to conceal its massive budget deficit. Goldman's confected loss was Greece's imaginary gain just to meet Europe's requirement that its deficit never surpass 3 % of GDP. Now, it's reported that Goldman made a $250 million fee on the deal and a motza on credit default swap insurance sold to Greek bond holders against the country going bust.
Apparently this only became known to Prime Minister, George Papandreou and his Socialist government when they came into office and investors demanded monster interest rates to lend more money to roll over this debt.

So who is going to save Europe, and by extension us?

The new president of the European Central Bank (ECB), Mario Draghi knows the turf well. He was after all, the London based Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Goldman Sachs International and a member of Goldman Sachs' Management Committee. Fronting the European Parliament's finance committee, he was quick to point out that between 2002 and 2005 his role did not involve selling financial instruments but was largely advisory.

Mario Draghi has also held board level positions or higher at the World Bank, the Bank of Italy, the Bank for International Settlements, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Asian Development Bank.

He has emphasized many times that it's not the ECB's role to act as lender of last resort to countries but Draghi is perfectly happy to promise banks unlimited liquidity. While everybody was urging him to buy government bonds to steady the ship he stressed the ECB's bond buying would be limited and temporary. Indeed anything else would be illegal under European law. According to the November 28^th Wall Street Journal, "The ECB has long worried that buying government bonds in big enough amounts to bring down countries' borrowing costs would make it easier for national politicians to delay the budget austerity and economic overhauls that are needed."

So take your medicine, suckers!

Mario Monti, Italy's new prime minister was appointed by the markets, not elected by the people.
And guess what? Before that he was a member of Goldman Sachs Board of International Advisers and a member of the European Commission, one of the EU's governing organizations. Monti is European Chairman of the Trilateral Commission, a US organization that advances American interests and a founding member of the Spinelli group created to foster EU integration.

In Greece, an unelected banker was installed as a newly minted Prime Minister there too.

From 1994 to 2002, Lucas Papademos was Governor of the Bank of Greece at the time Goldman Sachs was helping camouflage the country's deficit. If he didn't know what was going on, he should have. From 2002-2010, he was Vice President of the European Central Bank and is also a member of America's Trilateral Commission.

And while the PM was not employed by Goldman Sachs, the Chairman of Greece's Public Debt Management Agency, Petros Christodoulos, was a trader in the bank's London operation.

Everybody agrees that the simplest remedy for Europe's woes would be for the ECB to buy enough Spanish and Italian debt to keep interest rates at a reasonable level. ECB President Draghi refuses to move until, observers say, the crisis is so bad he can impose the sort of package that would gladden the heart of any true neo-liberal. Public assets privatized, unions subjugated, social safety nets rent and sovereignty surrendered to unelected technocrats. On Thursday, Mario Draghi presaged this attack on Europe's social democracy by calling for a "new fiscal compact" and now President Nicolas Sarkozy of France and Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany have dutifully moved to re-shape the treaty governing the continent's economic governance.

I saw this belt tightening austerity in the eighties as the IMF dictated to Brazil what it should cut to repay its debt to a consortium of US and European banks and the World Bank. It took years of pain for the powerhouse of Latin America to recover from this economic castration. Last week I heard a financial commentator describe the current situation as the market picking off the weakest prey as each of the PIIGS countries come under sustained attack. The predatory nature of the beast may see austerity plans introduced, European banks bailed out but still we are likely to end with the Second Great Depression, we had to have. Had to have? There is no other way now to cleanse the system, to throw the money lenders out of the temple." (end snip)

Armageddon Virus: A Warning or Fear Mongering?

We know that fear is the greatest weapon against truth.
We also know that there is a clear and organised plan of depopulation and eugenics as per Agenda 21.
We also have read recently about a mutated form of the "bird Flu" that has a 60% mortality rate.
As mortality rates go, that's up there.
Plus, we also know that it's FLU season in the Northern Hemisphere comming up.

Fear of contracting such a horror virus are thrust upon us via MOVIES, and government sponsored "vaccination" programmes, but , are these part of the problem?

Publishing results from a "Armageddon" Virus so "terrorists" can duplicate it, seems like a typical fear mongering campaign, but we also have to keep in mind that the "shaddow" Government, have all the facilities needed, legal and regulated or not, and many clandestine fronts to cover for diabolical deeds.

To publish or not to publish?

That is the question gripping scientists after virologists said they had developed a bird flu virus - with a 60 per cent human mortality rate - that could spread as easily as the common cold.

Some fear the virus, if it fell into the wrong hands, could be modified by bioterrorists into a weapon that kills billions of people.

"This study, from what I can tell, may be the most worrisome and controversial biological dual-use research that has occurred," said Michael Selgelid, the deputy director of the Centre for Human Bioethics at Monash University

The study, led by virologist Ron Fouchier of the Erasmus medical centre in the Netherlands, was first outlined at an influenza conference in September, but is yet to be published in a journal - the next step for an academic.

Dr Fouchier and his colleagues are waiting for a review of the study by the National Security Advisory Board on Biosecurity (NSABB), a US body that issues non-binding decisions on live sciences research.
The NSABB's next meeting is on December 15, but even if it recommends the study not be published - and the decision is supported by the US government, the scientists could still publish their work in non-US journals, or on the internet, Dr Selgelid said.

Sensitive research

The H5N1 virus previously affected only birds, but in 1997, it was found in humans in Asia.
The flu spread across the world, infecting almost 600 people, according to the latest data from the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The virus was not known to have, or had not, mutated to the point at which it could be transmitted between humans until Dr Fouchier and his team embarked on their research.

Using ferrets, which react to viruses in a similar way to humans, the scientists tested out mutations of the bird flu.

Through five mutations, they created a strain of the H5N1 that was airborne, killing ferrets kept in different cages, the New Scientist magazine quoted Dr Fouchier as saying.

"It is worth asking the question - have the scientists pre-empted a naturally occurring threat, or have they simply created a threat that would not - and might never - otherwise exist?" asked biosecurity expert Christian Enemark of the Australian National University (ANU).

Associate Professor Enemark said that, while it was not possible to measure the likelihood that such research could be used as a bio-weapon, "before this virus was created, however, there was no such chance".

Even if the virus was not used for nefarious purposes, it could accidentally be released from a laboratory and cause a health crisis, Dr Selgelid added.

How devastating could it be?

The 1918 Spanish flu is considered to have been the "most severe" influenza pandemic, killing between 20 and 40 million people, the WHO said.

But the airborne disease had a mortality rate of about 2.5 per cent, compared with the H5N1 virus, which has a mortality rate of about 60 per cent.

"The study's [mutated] virus seems to be as deadly even when it became easily transmissible between ferrets," Dr Selgelid said.

"It seems not unlikely that the same changes would lead to a contagious human flu virus with a very high mortality rate."

The recently released Hollywood film Contagion depicts the sudden outbreak of a similarly virulent disease. Both the virus - and the fear surrounding its deadly impact - spread like wildfire, infecting hundreds of thousands of people, as medical authorities struggled to find a vaccine.

But should science be censored?

Associate Professor Enemark and Dr Selgelid said the justifications for publishing the H5N1 study depended on whether the public health benefits of releasing it outweighed the risks.

Dr Selgelid said that, while supporters of the study believed it would help scientists monitor and understand further mutations of the bird flu, there were many other ways the virus could evolve.

"More importantly, even if we see it coming, in reality, there is not much we can do about it. One of the important lessons learnt from the H1N1 flu [swine flu] epidemic is that it's really hard to contain pandemics of flu," he said.

"So those benefits seem limited."

Associate Professor Enemark, who specialises in the security impact of infectious diseases, said he saw "very little" of such types of sensitive data published.

Even if they existed, "it never sees the light of day", he said.

"I would oppose publication, not because it would make a huge practical difference in an immediate sense, but mostly because it would send a strong signal to research scientists that it is not just their opinions that matter.

"In this particular case, the risk-benefit calculus is arguably so finely balanced, and the stakes potentially so high, that there needs to be broader input on research and publication decisions from non-scientist policymakers, ethicists, and so on," he said.

But what about the scientific ideal of freely sharing information and ideas? Shouldn't scientists refuse censorship by governments?

Dr Selgelid said censorship should occur only in exceptional cases, but that precedents have already existed for decades in the nuclear industry.

"In nuclear physics, discoveries with weapons implications are automatically born classified in the United States whether or not the research is funded by governments."

To ensure that any such censorship is justified and verified, an international body similar to the NSABB and under the auspices of the WHO could be set up, with a panel of experts in both the science and security fields examining research that could lead to potentially severe impacts on public health, Dr Selgelid said.

The body should also have the power to impose binding decisions under international law, he added.
"This study reveals that biological sciences are now in a situation similar to that of atomic physics at the time when key discoveries were made that enabled the production of the first atomic weapons," he said.

"This is a key moment in the history of biology."

Other controversial studies in the past decade

* 2001 - Scientists from the CSIRO and the ANU were working on developing a contagious contraception for mice to make them infertile - using a mousepox virus. But what they discovered was a vaccine-resistant strain of mousepox.

As mousepox is closely related to smallpox - one of the worst diseases in human history and at the top of feared biological agents - there were fears it could be used as a bio-weapon, Dr Selgelid said. The study was published, along with the description of materials and methods used, he said.

* 2002 - Scientists from the State University of New York in Stony Brook, who were funded by the US's Department of Defence, synthesised the polio virus from scratch, using information published on the internet.
They bought strains of DNA via mail order, stitched them together and created the synthesised polio genome. They then mixed it in a "cell juice" solution that gave birth to a live polio virus that killed mice that were injected with it, Dr Selgelid said. The study and its methods were also published.

Dr Eckard Wimmer, the lead scientist on the project, warned: "The world had better be prepared. This shows you can re-create a virus from written information."

* 2005 - Scientists from the US's Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reconstructed the Spanish flu virus, using the remains of a victim buried in the permafrost in Alaska in 1918. They sequenced the flu's genome before reconstructing the virus using methods similarly those used in the polio study.
Scientific observers said then that terrorists were not likely to have the capabilities to carry out similar reconstructions. "These are not easy viruses to reconstruct," Professor Diane Griffin of Johns Hopkins University's Bloomberg School of Public Health said in 2005. "You're not going to do this in a cave in Afghanistan." (end snip)

Very Cool = Iceland

Yes, Iceland is very cool.

No, not just in temperature, but in attitude as well.
I have much respect for Iceland, and if it wasn't so cold, i'd probaly immigrate there.(if they'd let me)

For starters, during their economic crisis they let the banks fail. and that was a good thing.

Now to continue their good works, the Icelandic parliament passed resolution making them the first in western Europe to accept Palestine as an independent state.

Iceland recognises Palestinian state

The Icelandic parliament said in a statement on its website that it had passed a motion with 38 of 63 votes in favour of a resolution to recognse Palestine "as an independent and sovereign state" based on borders predating the six-day war of 1967.

"Iceland is the first country in western europe to take this step," Ossur Skarphedinsson, the minister for foreign affairs, told RUV, the Icelandic national broadcasting service. He said the vote had given him the authority to make a formal declaration on the government's behalf, but before doing so he would discuss the move with other Nordic countries.

The resolution, which coincided with the UN's annual day of solidarity with the Palestinian people, recognised the Palestine Liberation Organisation as the legal authority for a Palestinian state and urged Israel and Palestine to reach a peace agreement.

The vote comes shortly after the Palestinians successfully gained admission to the UN's cultural agency, Unesco. Iceland was among 11 European Unesco members to support the move.(end snips)

Chinese tycoon slams Iceland over failed land bid

The Chinese tycoon behind a failed plan to buy a huge tract of land in Iceland has blamed prejudice against China for the rejection of the bid, according to an interview published at the weekend.

Iceland on Friday denied a request by property tycoon Huang Nubo to purchase a 300-square-kilometre swathe of land in the northern part of the island for a tourist resort.

"The denial reflects the unjust and parochial investment environment facing private Chinese enterprises abroad," Huang, founder of property company Zhongkun Group, said in an interview with the official China Daily newspaper.

In rejecting the request, Iceland's Interior Minister Ogmundur Jonasson said approval would set an unwelcome precedent.

"We are talking about a land purchase on such a large scale that if we had agreed to an exemption one could say that the law was null and void and... that anyone who applied for an exemption after this would be allowed to buy, simply because of such a precedent," he said. (end snip)

They have plenty more places to easily buy off land, real estate and foreign assets..

Of course, the Chinese have purchased much land all over the globe and in Australia they are purchasing our farmlands . Foreign interests including state-owned companies from China and the Middle East are increasingly looking to Australia to secure their food production by purchasing key agricultural assets.

AND our government is letting them.

Our Farmland and food security is being sold off.

Plus they are able to purchase numerous residential properties

So, Looks like it's very different in Iceland.

IRAN: British Embassy Stormed + Allegiances

Iranian protesters storm British embassy

Iranian protesters have stormed the British embassy in Tehran, smashing windows, hurling petrol bombs and burning the British flag in protest against sanctions imposed by London.

Britain says it is outraged by the attacks and has warned of "serious consequences".

Several dozen protesters broke away from a crowd of a few hundred outside the main British embassy compound in downtown Tehran on Tuesday, scaled the gates, broke the locks and went inside.

Protesters pulled down the Union Jack, burned it, and put up the Iranian flag.
Inside, the demonstrators smashed windows of office and residential quarters, set a car ablaze, and set fire to embassy documents, news pictures showed

An Iranian report said six British embassy staff had been briefly held by the protesters.
British foreign secretary William Hague said the situation had been "confusing" and that he would not have called them "hostages".
"Police freed the six people working for the British embassy in Qolhak garden," Iran's Fars news agency said.
A German school next to the Qolhak compound was also damaged, the German government said.(end snip)

Is this "payback? or concerted? or just some kind of ploy?
To create the tension and fervour necessary for the UK and Israel, US and regional allies to attack Iran?
To act as a distraction for what is happening in Syria?
To seperate and divide and conquer certain allegiances?
The creation of tit for tat scenarios.
To eventually cause provocation to escalate in a way that is controlled into a full blown regional conflict.
To force all the surrounding countries to form allegiances and build up a cold war scenario which will eventually turn hot, obviously with provocation, planned and deliberate.

Britain has threatened "serious consequences" for Iran after protesters stormed the British embassy in Tehran, ransacking offices and diplomatic residences and triggering one of the worst crises in bilateral relations since the Islamic revolution 32 years ago.

Hague said: "The United Kingdom takes this irresponsible action extremely seriously. It amounts to a grave breach of the Vienna convention which requires the protection of diplomats and diplomatic premises under all circumstances. We hold the Iranian government responsible for its failure to take adequate measures to protect our embassy, as it is required to do."(end snip)

The narrative and the language seem to be heading in the same direction.
Threats.
A Nato attack on Syria and Iran..which are allies..
There seem to be a concerted effort to encirle and pry this partnership apart..
especially with the situation in Syria.
And this seems to be happening.
We read in this Jewish policy centre article HERE Who have a vested interest in the destabilisation of Syria.

"There is an assumption that Syria would distance itself from Iran in favor of a peace treaty with Israel and normalized relations with the United States. Syria's strategic relationship with Iran began in 1979 and both countries sought friendship as a deterrent from a mutual Iraqi threat. Iraq rivaled Syria as the true inheritor of Ba'thism and Arabism. Ethnic, religious and territorial disputes between Iran and Iraq prompted the former to seek an alliance with Syria" (end snip)

OK , so IRAQ was the mutual "threat" to these countries, but Iraq is no more. and no threat, but it's "occupiers"are..
The mutual threat now, are the ones who attacked Iraq and their "silent" partner Israel.

BUT what happens when Russia gets involved?

Sea alert: Russian warships head for Syria

Moscow is deploying warships at its base in the Syrian port of Tartus. The long-planned mission comes, providentially, at the very moment when it could help prevent a potential conflict in the strategically important Middle Eastern country.

The Russian battle group will consist of three vessels led by the heavy aircraft-carrying missile cruiser, Admiral Kuznetsov.

Russian military officials insist that the move has no connection with the ongoing crisis in the region and was planned a year ago, the Izvestia newspaper reports. Apart from Syria, the aircraft carrier and its escort ships are set to visit the Lebanese capital, Beirut, Genoa in Italy and Cyprus, says the former Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Viktor Kravchenko.

Nevertheless, he added that the presence of a military force other than NATO’s is very useful for this region, because “it will prevent the outbreak of an armed conflict,” Izvestia quoted Kravchenko as saying.

The Soviet Union, the Admiral recalled, created a special naval squadron to deter Western military forces in the Mediterranean Sea. To repair and supply its ships, Moscow needed its own maintenance base in the region, and that was how the base in Tartus came into being. (end snip)

So, Russia is strategically alligned with Syria, and "regime" change would not be on their agenda.

Since we've mentioned Lebanon,we also read that there have been an exchange of rockets between Israel and Lebanon in the past day.

Several rockets fired from Lebanon hit northern Israel today and Israeli forces returned fire across the border in response, military officials said.

Two buildings in the western Galilee area were damaged, Israeli media said, but there were no reported casualties.
Residents said they heard two explosions and houses shook.
An Israeli military spokesman said the rockets were the first fired across the border since 2009.

The Israeli-Lebanese border has been largely quiet in recent years, though some have worried about a possible spill-over of tensions from a months-old revolt in Syria against president Bashar al-Assad and from a stiffening of Western sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program"

Also hope and pray that war is NOT an option, as we have just seenthe complete destruction of Lybia and previously Iraq.
Plus the wholly orchestrated Arab "spring" nonsense.
There is a possibilty, at such a time, when these allies all line up and take sides, that it will escalate to other regions such as India and Pakistan, Afganistan and Asia / Central Asia.

Maybe it is the subversive agenda of the usual suspects or/ and partners, who, are the most to benefit from these type of events.

The sound of an apparent large explosion was heard from Iran's Isfahan city on Monday afternoon, the head of the judiciary in the province said, according to Iran's ISNA news agency.

A major Iranian nuclear research centre is located near Isfahan city, although none of the Iranian reports of the blast said whether the explosion was near it.

"In the afternoon, there was a noise like an explosion, but we don't have any information from security forces on the source of the noise," judiciary head Gholamreza Ansari was quoted as saying.

Iranian media provided contradictory information about the incident, which came less that three weeks after a massive explosion at a military base near Tehran that killed at least 17 members of the Revolutionary Guard, including the head of its missile forces.

Earlier, the Fars news agency reported a large blast in the province but then removed the report from its website.

The Mehr news agency cited other Iranian news media, which it did not identify, as reporting that a blast had taken place at a petrol station at a town near Isfahan city. However, it also quoted the deputy governor of the province as saying he had no reports of a big explosion in his region.(end snip)

Interstingly, Isfahan is home to nuclear experimental reactors, and also a uranium enrichment facility for producing nuclear fuel.

Maybe it's because Iran downgraded relations with the UK after Britain banned all dealings with Iranian banks, including the central bank, ( and i think that the banking aspect has a MAJOR role to play )

In the latest indication of the deteriorating diplomatic relationship between Iran and the west, officials said London would this week deliver “a strong bilateral response” to Tehran’s decision to downgrade political relations with the UK to chargé d’affaires level.

Meanwhile, a senior commander of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards warned over the weekend that the Islamic regime would retaliate against any attack on its nuclear sites by hitting Nato’s missile defence radar base being built in Turkey. Amir-Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Guards’ aerospace division, added that Iran considered the shield a cover for US and Israeli aggression against Iran under the guise of Nato. (end snips)

Especially in a city where there is apparently nuclear enrichment facillities ans experimental reactors.

If it is, it is a deliberate act of provocation, which seems to be the agenda as well.

Chinese warn of 'crossfire' over base

BEIJING: China's state-owned media warned Australia not to be caught in China-US crossfire by choosing ''to play China for a fool'', as the Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, announced a permanent presence for US forces near Darwin.

''Apparently, Australia aspires to a situation where it maximises political and security benefits from its alliance with the US, while gaining the greatest economic interests from China,'' a story on the People's Daily website said.

''However, Gillard may be ignoring something - their economic co-operation with China does not pose any threat to the US, whereas the Australia-US military alliance serves to counter China,'' the article said.
''Australia surely cannot play China for a fool. It is impossible for China to remain detached, no matter what Australia does to undermine its security.''

The article contained tough warnings about future military collaboration with the US but refrained from threats of immediate retaliation.

''If Australia uses its military bases to help the US harm Chinese interests, then Australia itself will be caught in the crossfire,'' it said.

Instructively, the toughest language was published in English but not in Chinese, hinting that the Chinese leadership has no intention of rallying the Chinese public in a war of words.

Indonesia has also expressed concerns about the increased US military presence, warning it could provoke a ''vicious circle of tension and mistrust'' in the region.

Indonesia's Foreign Minister, Marty Natalegawa, said: ''What I would hate to see is if such a development were to provoke a reaction and counter-reaction.''

Mr Natalegawa was speaking before the ASEAN and East Asia leaders' summits in Bali. President Barack Obama and Ms Gillard are due to arrive in Bali today.

In China, yesterday's front page of the fiercely nationalistic Global Times led with ''Australia's US base entanglement'' but the subsequent article was relatively restrained by its standards.

It quoted the Greens leader, Bob Brown, as saying an American base would make Australia into a bigger military target.

It cited the military expert Major General Peng Guangqian saying the US was trying to use Australia to contain China in a ''pincer'' movement. He said it would be a historical setback if the US was trying to provoke a ''21st-century new Cold War''.(end snip)

These places and events all have a connection to Israel.

The Cyprus ammo dump explosion took place one day after the US backs Lebanon on the Mediterranean gas drilling dispute with Israel.

The Abadan blast took place later in the day after Turkmenistan rejected Israel's diplomat nominee, claiming him to be a "Mossad spy."

Three ammo dump explosions in just over four months--all potentially tied to Israel or Mossad.

Plus, very conveniently and coincidentally the blast killed a senior commander in charge of the country's missile development program.

Brigadier General Hassan Moghaddam was said to be ''responsible for industrial research aimed at ensuring self-sufficiency of the Revolutionary Guards' armaments'', a coded way of confirming reports that he was responsible for its missile inventory.

Israeli newspapers on Sunday were thick with innuendo, the front pages of the three largest dailies dominated by variations on the headline "Mysterious Explosion in Iranian Missile Base." Turn the page, and the mystery is answered with a wink. "Who Is Responsible for Attacks on the Iranian Army?" asks Maariv, and the paper lists without further comment a half-dozen other violent setbacks to Iran's nuclear and military nexus.

For Israeli readers, the coy implication is that their own government was behind Saturday's massive blast just outside Tehran. It is an assumption a Western intelligence source insists is correct: the Mossad — the Israeli agency charged with covert operations — did it. "Don't believe the Iranians that it was an accident," the official tells TIME, adding that other sabotage is being planned to impede the Iranian ability to develop and deliver a nuclear weapon. "There are more bullets in the magazine," the official says.

The powerful blast or series of blasts — reports described an initial explosion followed by a much larger one — devastated a missile base in the gritty urban sprawl to the west of the Iranian capital. The base housed Shahab missiles, which, at their longest range, can reach Israel. Last week's report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said Iran had experimented with removing the conventional warhead on the Shahab-3 and replacing it with one that would hold a nuclear device. Iran says the explosion was an accident that came while troops were transferring ammunition out of the depot "toward the appropriate site." (See why ties between the U.S. and Iran are under threat.)

The explosion killed at least 17 people, including Major General Hassan Moqqadam, described by Iranian state media as a pioneer in Iranian missile development and the Revolutionary Guard commander in charge of "ensuring self-sufficiency" in armaments, a challenging task in light of international sanctions.

Coming the weekend after the release of the unusually critical IAEA report, which laid out page upon page of evidence that Iran is moving toward a nuclear weapon, the blast naturally sharpened concern over Israel's threat to launch airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities. Half the stories on the Tehran Times website on Sunday referenced the possibility of a military strike, most warning of dire repercussions.

But the incident also argued, maybe even augured, against an outright strike. If Israel — perhaps in concert with Washington and other allies — can continue to inflict damage to the Iranian nuclear effort through covert actions, the need diminishes for overt, incendiary moves like air strikes. The Stuxnet computer worm bollixed Iran's centrifuges for months, wreaking havoc on the crucial process of uranium enrichment.

And in Sunday's editions, the Hebrew press coyly listed what Yedioth Ahronoth called "Iran's Mysterious Mishaps." The tallies ran from the November 2007 explosion at a missile base south of Tehran to the October 2010 blast at a Shahab facility in southwestern Iran, to the assassinations of three Iranian scientists working in the nuclear program — two last year and one in July. At the very least, the list burnishes the mystique of the Mossad, Israel's overseas spy agency. Whatever the case-by-case reality, the popular notion that, through the Mossad, Israel knows everything and can reach anywhere is one of the most valuable assets available to a state whose entire doctrine of defense can be summed up in the word deterrence. But it doesn't mean Israel is the only country with a foreign intelligence operation inside Iran. The most recent IAEA report included intelligence from 10 governments on details of the Iranian nuclear effort. And in previous interviews, Western security sources have indicated that U.S. and other Western intelligence agencies have partnered with Israel on covert operations inside Iran.

Sometimes the partner brings specific expertise or access. In other cases, Iranian agents on the ground who might harbor misgivings about Israel are allowed to believe they are working only with another government altogether.

Saturday's blast was so powerful it was felt 25 miles away in Tehran, and so loud that one nearby resident with combat experience thought he had just heard the detonation of an aerial bomb. "Frankly it did not sound like an arms depot from where I was because when one of those goes off, it is multiple explosions over minutes, even hours depending on the size of the facility," the resident says. "All I heard was one big boom. I was sure from the quality of the noise that anyone in its immediate vicinity was dead. Something definitely happened, but I would not trust the [Revolutionary] Guards to be absolutely forthcoming as to what it was."(end snips)

Stuxnet-style virus hits Iran

Iran says it has detected the Duqu computer virus that experts say is based on Stuxnet, the so-called "cyber-weapon" discovered last year and believed to be aimed at sabotaging the country's nuclear sites.

The head of Iran's civil defence organisation told the official IRNA news agency that computers at all main sites at risk were being checked and that Iran had developed software to combat the virus.

"We are in the initial phase of fighting the Duqu virus," Gholamreza Jalali was quoted as saying.

"The final report which says which organisations the virus has spread to and what its impacts are has not been completed yet.

"All the organisations and centres that could be susceptible to being contaminated are being controlled."

News of Duqu surfaced in October when security software maker Symantec Corp said it had found a mysterious virus that contained code similar to Stuxnet.

While Stuxnet was aimed at crippling industrial control systems and may have destroyed some of the centrifuges Iran uses to enrich uranium, experts say Duqu appeared designed to gather data to make it easier to launch future cyber attacks.

Symantec said: "Duqu is essentially the precursor to a future Stuxnet-like attack." Instead of being designed to sabotage an industrial control system, the new virus is designed to gain remote access capabilities, it said in a report issued last month.

Iran said in April it had been targeted by a second computer virus which it identified as 'Stars'.
It was not immediately clear if Stars and Duqu were related but Mr Jalali described Duqu as the third virus to hit Iran.

Tehran said Stuxnet had not inflicted serious damage before it was detected, and blamed the United States and Israel for the virus which appeared to be aimed at crippling the nuclear program they say is aimed at making atomic weapons, a charge Iran denies.

The International Atomic Energy Agency issued a report last week that contained what it called credible evidence pointing to military dimensions to Iran's atomic activities, fuelling demands in Washington and Europe for further sanctions.

Iran dismissed the report as politicised and full of "lousy" and unreliable intelligence work. The speaker of Iran's parliament said on Sunday the assembly would "review" relations with the UN nuclear watchdog.

Israel refuses to alert US over Iran attack

ISRAEL has refused to reassure President Barack Obama that it would warn him of a pre-emptive strike on Iran's nuclear infrastructure, raising fears that it may be planning an attack as early as the next northern summer.

The US leader was rebuffed when he demanded private guarantees that a strike would not go ahead without White House notification, suggesting that Israel no longer plans to ''seek Washington's permission'', sources said.

The disclosure, by insiders briefed on a secret meeting between America's most senior defence chief and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, comes amid concerns that Iran's progress towards nuclear weapons means Israel has lost hope for a diplomatic solution.

Last week, UN weapons inspectors released their most damning report to date into Iran's nuclear activities, saying it appeared to be building a nuclear weapon. It was with that possibility in mind that US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta flew into Israel last month on what was a routine trip.

Officially, his brief was restricted to the Middle East peace process, but the most important part of his mission was a private meeting with Mr Netanyahu and Defence Minister Ehud Barak. Once all but a handful of trusted staff had left the room, Mr Panetta conveyed an urgent message from Mr Obama. The President, Mr Panetta said, wanted an unshakable guarantee that Israel would not carry out a unilateral military strike against Iran's nuclear installations without first seeking Washington's clearance.

The two Israelis were notably evasive in their response, according to sources both in Israel and America.

''They did not suggest that military action was being planned or was imminent, but neither did they give any assurances that Israel would first seek Washington's permission, or even inform the White House in advance that a mission was under way,'' one said.

Alarmed by Mr Netanyahu's noncommittal response, Mr Obama reportedly ordered the US intelligence services to step up monitoring of Israel to glean clues of its intentions.

What those intentions might be remains murky. Over the past fortnight, Israel's press has given every impression that the country is on a war footing, with numerous claims that Mr Netanyahu and Mr Barak are lobbying the cabinet to support the military option.

Two weeks ago, Israel tested a ballistic missile capable of reaching Iran, its first such test since 2008. Shortly before, the Israeli air force took part in NATO exercises in Sardinia. A separate exercise around Tel Aviv tested civilian readiness in the event of a missile strike.

In a sign of the febrility of the public mood, many beach-goers apparently mistook the air raid sirens for an attack and fled in panic for their cars. Likewise, there were similar jitters in Iran on Saturday when a vast explosion at an arms dump outside Tehran shook the city.

Speculation about an imminent Israeli military action has been a regular occurrence over the years, but rarely as fevered as now. Last week, a British official even suggested that an attack could come before Christmas.

But most Israelis believe the difficulty of mounting an operation when winter cloud cover hampers aircraft targeting systems means that if military action is being considered, it will not come before the spring or summer of next year. (end)

What horrible news to wake up to this morning.
We have just had confirmation this morning that my lovely town is going to become a US Marine Base.
Looks like we have to move...I don't want my kids growing up here now.
This was a great place to raise a family..oh, until today.
There goes the bloody neighbourhood.
It is so obvious that Australia is a puppet state of the Zionist entity and this will increase the risk of tension with our Asian neighbours...with whom we seem to have a good relationship with..for now that is.
This will destabilize the region.
Create Paranoia.
Create tension and a "reason" to stage terror activities..
This will really pee off alot of Aussies.
This is the first time that we will have an active "marine" base here in my country since WW2 and unfortunatley in my little town.
So, maybe it's time to get the hell outa dodge as they say,.

US Marines to be based in Darwin: reports

A defence analyst says a permanent US military presence in Darwin could pose a significant risk to Asia's peace and security.

Reports in the Fairfax press this morning say US president Barack Obama will use next week's visit to Australia to announce that the US will start stationing Marines through an Australian base in Darwin.

President Obama will speak to troops in Darwin during his visit, but the White House has refused to confirm whether any deal has been reached.

Professor Hugh White questions whether an expanded US military presence in Australia's north is the right way to deal with China.

"I think that the kind of steps that we are talking about here do take the region closer down the track of escalating strategic competition, and I think that does carry significant risks for Asia's future peace and stability," he said.

But Federal Opposition Immigration spokesman Scott Morrison says he does not believe the possible expansion of the US military presence in Australia would be a provocative step against China.

Mr Morrison has told Channel Nine the expansion would simply be a function of Australia's alliance with the United States, and would not be aimed at pressuring China as it flexes its muscles in the Pacific.

"Our relationship with China I think will always be strong, and one of the key reasons for that is there is much to be gained on both sides of that relationship," he said.(end snips)

What will surprise those who may already be surprised about the Dönmeh connection to Turkey, is the Dönmeh connection to the House of Saud in Saudi Arabia.

An Iraqi Mukhabarat (General Military Intelligence Directorate) Top Secret report, “The Emergence of Wahhabism and its Historical Roots,” dated September 2002 and released on March 13, 2008, by the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency in translated English form, points to the Dönmeh roots of the founder of the Saudi Wahhabi sect of Islam, Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab. Much of the information is gleaned from the memoirs of a “Mr. Humfer,” (as spelled in the DIA report, “Mr. Hempher” as spelled the historical record) a British spy who used the name “Mohammad,” claimed to be an Azeri who spoke Turkish, Persian, and Arabic and who made contact with Wahhab in the mid-18th century with a view of creating a sect of Islam that would eventually bring about an Arab revolt against the Ottomans and pave the way for the introduction of a Jewish state in Palestine. Humfer’s memoirs are recounted by the Ottoman writer and admiral Ayyub Sabri Pasha in his 1888 work, “The Beginning and Spreading of Wahhabism.”

In his book, The Dönmeh Jews, D. Mustafa Turan writes that Wahhab’s grandfather, Tjen Sulayman, was actually Tjen Shulman, a member of the Jewish community of Basra, Iraq. The Iraqi intelligence report also states that in his book, The Dönmeh Jews and the Origin of the Saudi Wahhabis, Rifat Salim Kabar reveals that Shulman eventually settled in the Hejaz, in the village of al-Ayniyah what is now Saudi Arabia, where his grandson founded the Wahhabi sect of Islam. The Iraqi intelligence report states that Shulman had been banished from Damascus, Cairo, and Mecca for his “quackery.” In the village, Shulman sired Abdul Wahhab. Abdel Wahhab’s son, Muhammad, founded modern Wahhabism.

The Iraqi report also makes some astounding claims about the Saud family. It cites Abdul Wahhab Ibrahim al-Shammari’s book, The Wahhabi Movement: The Truth and Roots, which states that King Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud, the first Kingdom of Saudi Arabia monarch, was descended from Mordechai bin Ibrahim bin Moishe, a Jewish merchant also from Basra. In Nejd, Moishe joined the Aniza tribe and changed his name to Markhan bin Ibrahim bin Musa. Eventually, Mordechai married off his son, Jack Dan, who became Al-Qarn, to a woman from the Anzah tribe of the Nejd. From this union, the future Saud family was born.

The Iraqi intelligence document reveals that the researcher Mohammad Sakher was the subject of a Saudi contract murder hit for his examination into the Sauds’ Jewish roots. In Said Nasir’s book, The History of the Saud Family, it is maintained that in 1943, the Saudi ambassador to Egypt, Abdullah bin Ibrahim al Muffadal, paid Muhammad al Tamami to forge a family tree showing that the Sauds and Wahhabs were one family that descended directly from the Prophet Mohammed.

At the outset of World War I, a Jewish British officer from India, David Shakespeare, met with Ibn Saud in Riyadh and later led a Saudi army that defeated a tribe opposed to Ibn Saud. In 1915, Ibn Saud met with the British envoy to the Gulf region, Bracey Cocas. Cocas made the following offer to Ibn Saud: “I think this is a guarantee for your endurance as it is in the interest of Britain that the Jews have a homeland and existence, and Britain’s interests are, by all means, in your interest.” Ibn Saud, the descendant of Dönmeh from Basra, responded: “Yes, if my acknowledgement means so much to you, I acknowledge thousand times granting a homeland to the Jews in Palestine or other than Palestine.” Two years later, British Foreign Secretary Lord Balfour, in a letter to Baron Walter Rothschild, a leader of the British Zionists, stated: “His Majesty’s government view with favor the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people . . .” The deal had the tacit backing of two of the major players in the region, both descendant from Dönmeh Jews who supported the Zionist cause, Kemal Ataturk and Ibn Saud. The present situation in the Middle East should be seen in this light but the history of the region has been purged by certain religious and political interests for obvious reasons.

After World War I, the British facilitated the coming to power of the Saud regime in the former Hejaz and Nejd provinces of the Ottoman Empire. The Sauds established Wahhabism as the state religion of the new Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and, like the Kemalist Dönmeh in Turkey, began to move against other Islamic beliefs and sects, including the Sunnis and Shi’as. The Wahhabi Sauds accomplished what the Kemalist Dönmeh were able to achieve in Turkey: a fractured Middle East that was ripe for Western imperialistic designs and laid the groundwork for the creation of the Zionist state of Israel.

Deep states and Dönmeh

During two visits to Turkey in 2010, I had the opportunity of discussing the Ergenekon “deep state” with leading Turkish officials. It was more than evident that discussions about the Ergenekon network and its “foreign” connections are a highly-sensitive subject. However, it was also whispered by one high-ranking Turkish foreign policy official that there were other “deep states” in surrounding nations and Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Syria were mentioned by name. Considering the links between Ergenekon and the Dönmeh in Turkey and the close intelligence and military links between the Dönmeh-descendent Sauds and Wahhabis in Arabia, the reports of close links between ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and his intelligence chief Omar Suleiman and the Binyamin Netanyahu government in Israel may be seen in an entirely new light… And it would explain Erdogan’s support for Egypt’s revolution: in Turkey, it was a democratic revolution that curbed the influence of the Dönmeh. The influence of Wahhabi Salafists in Libya’s new government also explains why Erdogan was keen on establishing relations with the Benghazi-based rebels to help supplant the influence of the Wahhabis, the natural allies of his enemies, the Dönmeh (Ergenekon) of Turkey.

Erdogan’s desire to set the historical record straight by restoring history purged by the Kemalists and Dönmeh has earned him vitriolic statements from Israel’s government that he is a neo-Ottomanist who is intent on forming an alliance with the Muslim Brotherhood in the Arab countries. Clearly, the Dönmeh and their Zionist brethren in Israel and elsewhere are worried about Dönmeh and Zionist historical revisionism, including their role in the Armenian and Assyrian genocide, and their genocide denial being exposed.

In Egypt, which was once an Ottoman realm, it was a popular revolution that tossed out what may have amounted to the Dönmeh with regard to the Mubarak regime. The Egyptian “Arab Spring” also explains why the Israelis were quick to kill six Egyptian border police so soon after nine Turkish passengers were killed aboard the Mavi Marmara, some in execution style, by Israeli troops. Dönmeh doctrine is rife with references to the Old Testament Amalekites, a nomadic tribe ordered attacked by the Hebrews from Egypt by the Jewish God to make room for Moses’s followers in the southern region of Palestine. In the Book of Judges, God unsuccessfully commands Saul: “Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, and infant, ox, and sheep, camel and donkey.” The Dönmeh, whose doctrine is also present in Hasidic and other orthodox sects of Judaism, appear to have no problem substituting the Armenians, Assyrians, Turks, Kurds, Egyptians, Iraqis, Lebanese, Iranians, and Palestinians for the Amalekites in carrying out their military assaults and pogroms.

With reformist governments in Turkey and Egypt much more willing to look into the background of those who have split the Islamic world, Ataturk in Turkey and Mubarak in Egypt, the Sauds are likely very much aware that it is only a matter of time before their links, both modern and historical, to Israel will be fully exposed. It makes sense that the Sauds have been successful in engineering a dubious plot involving Iranian government agents trying to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to Washington in an unnamed Washington, DC restaurant. The Iraqi intelligence report could have been referring to the Zionists and Dönmeh when it stated, “it strives to . . . [the] killing of Muslims, destructing, and promoting the turmoil.” In fact, the Iraqi intelligence report was referring to the Wahhabis.

With new freedom in Turkey and Egypt to examine their pasts, there is more reason for Israel and its supporters, as well as the Sauds, to suppress the true histories of the Ottoman Empire, secular Turkey, the origins of Israel, and the House of Saud. With various players now angling for war with Iran, the true history of the Dönmeh and their influence on past and current events in the Middle East becomes more important.

The Dönmeh: The Middle East’s Most Whispered Secret (Part I)

There is a historical “eight hundred pound gorilla” lurking in the background of almost every serious military and diplomatic incident involving Israel, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Greece, Armenia, the Kurds, the Assyrians, and some other players in the Middle East and southeastern Europe. It is a factor that is generally only whispered about at diplomatic receptions, news conferences, and think tank sessions due to the explosiveness and controversial nature of the subject. And it is the secretiveness attached to the subject that has been the reason for so much misunderstanding about the current breakdown in relations between Israel and Turkey, a growing warming of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia, and increasing enmity between Saudi Arabia and Iran…

Although known to historians and religious experts, the centuries-old political and economic influence of a group known in Turkish as the “Dönmeh” is only beginning to cross the lips of Turks, Arabs, and Israelis who have been reluctant to discuss the presence in Turkey and elsewhere of a sect of Turks descended from a group of Sephardic Jews who were expelled from Spain during the Spanish Inquisition in the 16th and 17th centuries. These Jewish refugees from Spain were welcomed to settle in the Ottoman Empire and over the years they converted to a mystical sect of Islam that eventually mixed Jewish Kabbala and Islamic Sufi semi-mystical beliefs into a sect that eventually championed secularism in post-Ottoman Turkey. It is interesting that “Dönmeh” not only refers to the Jewish “untrustworthy converts” to Islam in Turkey but it is also a derogatory Turkish word for a transvestite, or someone who is claiming to be someone they are not.

The Donmeh sect of Judaism was founded in the 17th century by Rabbi Sabbatai Zevi, a Kabbalist who believed he was the Messiah but was forced to convert to Islam by Sultan Mehmet IV, the Ottoman ruler. Many of the rabbi’s followers, known as Sabbateans, but also “crypto-Jews,” publicly proclaimed their Islamic faith but secretly practiced their hybrid form of Judaism, which was unrecognized by mainstream Jewish rabbinical authorities. Because it was against their beliefs to marry outside their sect, the Dönmeh created a rather secretive sub-societal clan.

The Dönmeh rise to power in Turkey

Many Dönmeh, along with traditional Jews, became powerful political and business leaders in Salonica. It was this core group of Dönmeh, which organized the secret Young Turks, also known as the Committee of Union and Progress, the secularists who deposed Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II in the 1908 revolution, proclaimed the post-Ottoman Republic of Turkey after World War I, and who instituted a campaign that stripped Turkey of much of its Islamic identity after the fall of the Ottomans. Abdulhamid II was vilified by the Young Turks as a tyrant, but his only real crime appears to have been to refuse to meet Zionist leader Theodore Herzl during a visit to Constantinople in 1901 and reject Zionist and Dönmeh offers of money in return for the Zionists to be granted control of Jerusalem.

Like other leaders who have crossed the Zionists, Sultan Adulhamid II appears to have sealed his fate with the Dönmeh with this statement to his Ottoman court: “Advise Dr. Herzl not to take any further steps in his project. I cannot give away even a handful of the soil of this land for it is not my own, it belongs to the entire Islamic nation. The Islamic nation fought jihad for the sake of this land and had watered it with their blood. The Jews may keep their money and millions. If the Islamic Khalifate state is one day destroyed then they will be able to take Palestine without a price! But while I am alive, I would rather push a sword into my body than see the land of Palestine cut and given away from the Islamic state.” After his ouster by Ataturk’s Young Turk Dönmeh in 1908, Abdulhamid II was jailed in the Donmeh citadel of Salonica. He died in Constantinople in 1918, three years after Ibn Saud agreed to a Jewish homeland in Palestine and one year after Lord Balfour deeded Palestine away to the Zionists in his letter to Baron Rothschild.

One of the Young Turk leaders in Salonica was Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey. When Greece achieved sovereignty over Salonica in 1913, many Dönmeh, unsuccessful at being re-classified Jewish, moved to Constantinople, later re-named Istanbul. Others moved to Izmir, Bursa, and Ataturk’s newly-proclaimed capital and future seat of Ergenekon power, Ankara.

Some texts suggest that the Dönmeh numbered no more than 150,000 and were mainly found in the army, government, and business. However, other experts suggest that the Dönmeh may have represented 1.5 million Turks and were even more powerful than believed by many and extended to every facet of Turkish life. One influential Donmeh, Tevfik Rustu Arak, was a close friend and adviser to Ataturk and served as Turkey’s Foreign Minister from 1925 to 1938.

Ataturk, who was reportedly himself a Dönmeh, ordered that Turks abandon their own Muslim-Arabic names. The name of the first Christian emperor of Rome, Constantine, was erased from the largest Turkish city, Constantinople. The city became Istanbul, after the Ataturk government in 1923 objected to the traditional name. There have been many questions about Ataturk’s own name, since “Mustapha Kemal Ataturk” was a pseudonym. Some historians have suggested that Ataturk adopted his name because he was a descendant of none other than Rabbi Zevi, the self-proclaimed Messiah of the Dönmeh! Ataturk also abolished Turkey’s use of the Arabic script and forced the country to adopt the western alphabet.

Modern Turkey: a secret Zionist state controlled by the Dönmeh

Ataturk’s suspected strong Jewish roots, information about which was suppressed for decades by a Turkish government that forbade anything critical of the founder of modern Turkey, began bubbling to the surface, first, mostly outside of Turkey and in publications written by Jewish authors. The 1973 book, The Secret Jews, by Rabbi Joachim Prinz, maintains that Ataturk and his finance minister, Djavid Bey, were both committed Dönmeh and that they were in good company because “too many of the Young Turks in the newly formed revolutionary Cabinet prayed to Allah, but had their real prophet [Sabbatai Zevi, the Messiah of Smyrna].” In The Forward of January 28, 1994, Hillel Halkin wrote in The New York Sun that Ataturk recited the Jewish Shema Yisrael (“Hear O Israel”), saying that it was “my prayer too.” The information is recounted from an autobiography by journalist Itamar Ben-Avi, who claims Ataturk, then a young Turkish army captain, revealed he was Jewish in a Jerusalem hotel bar one rainy night during the winter of 1911. In addition, Ataturk attended the Semsi Effendi grade school in Salonica, run by a Dönmeh named Simon Zevi. Halkin wrote in the New York Sun article about an email he received from a Turkish colleague: “I now know – know (and I haven’t a shred of doubt) – that Ataturk’s father’s family was indeed of Jewish stock.”

It was Ataturk’s and the Young Turks’ support for Zionism, the creation of a Jewish homeland in Palestine, after World War I and during Nazi rule in Europe that endeared Turkey to Israel and vice versa. An article in The Forward of May 8, 2007, revealed that Dönmeh dominated Turkish leadership “from the president down, as well as key diplomats . . . and a great part of Turkey’s military, cultural, academic, economic, and professional elites” kept Turkey out of a World War II alliance with Germany, and deprived Hitler of a Turkish route to the Baku oilfields.” In his book, The Donme: Jewish Converts, Muslim Revolutionaries and Secular Turks, Professor Marc David Baer wrote that many advanced to exalted positions in the Sufi religious orders.

Israel has always been reluctant to describe the Turkish massacre of the Armenians by the Turks in 1915 as “genocide.” It has always been believed that the reason for Israel’s reticence was not to upset Israel’s close military and diplomatic ties with Turkey. However, more evidence is being uncovered that the Armenian genocide was largely the work of the Dönmeh leadership of the Young Turks. Historians like Ahmed Refik, who served as an intelligence officer in the Ottoman army, averred that it was the aim of the Young Turks to destroy the Armenians, who were mostly Christian. The Young Turks, under Ataturk’s direction, also expelled Greek Christians from Turkish cities and attempted to commit a smaller-scale genocide of the Assyrians, who were also mainly Christian.

One Young Turk from Salonica, Mehmet Talat, was the official who carried out the genocide of the Armenians and Assyrians. A Venezuelan mercenary who served in the Ottoman army, Rafael de Nogales Mendez, noted in his annals of the Armenian genocide that Talat was known as the “renegade Hebrew of Salonica.” Talat was assassinated in Germany in 1921 by an Armenian whose entire family was lost in the genocide ordered by the “renegade Hebrew.” It is believed by some historians of the Armenian genocide that the Armenians, known as good businessmen, were targeted by the business-savvy Dönmeh because they were considered to be commercial competitors.

It is not, therefore, the desire to protect the Israeli-Turkish alliance that has caused Israel to eschew any interest in pursuing the reasons behind the Armenian genocide, but Israel’s and the Dönmeh’s knowledge that it was the Dönmeh leadership of the Young Turks that not only murdered hundreds of thousands of Armenians and Assyrians but who also stamped out Turkey’s traditional Muslim customs and ways. Knowledge that it was Dönmeh, in a natural alliance with the Zionists of Europe, who were responsible for the deaths of Armenian and Assyrian Christians, expulsion from Turkey of Greek Orthodox Christians, and the cultural and religious eradication of Turkish Islamic traditions, would issue forth in the region a new reality. Rather than Greek and Turkish Cypriots living on a divided island, Armenians holding a vendetta against the Turks, and Greeks and Turks feuding over territory, all the peoples attacked by the Dönmeh would realize that they had a common foe that was their actual persecutor.

Challenging Dönmeh rule: Turkey’s battle against the Ergenekon

It is the purging of the Kemalist adherents of Ataturk and his secular Dönmeh regime that is behind the investigation of the Ergenekon conspiracy in Turkey. Ergenekon’s description matches up completely with the Dönmeh presence in Turkey’s diplomatic, military, judicial, religious, political, academic, business, and journalist hierarchy. Ergenekon attempted to stop the reforms instituted by successive non-Dönmeh Turkish leaders, including the re-introduction of traditional Turkish Islamic customs and rituals, by planning a series of coups, some successful like that which deposed Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan’s Refah (Welfare) Islamist government in 1996 and some unsuccessful, like OPERATION SLEDGEHEMMER, which was aimed at deposing Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in 2003. Some Islamist-leaning reformists, including Turkish President Turgut Ozal and Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit, died under suspicious circumstances. Deposed democratically-elected Prime Minister Adnan Menderes was hanged in 1961, following a military coup.

American politicians and journalists, whose knowledge of the history of countries like Turkey and the preceding Ottoman Empire, is often severely lacking, have painted the friction between Israel’s government and the Turkish government of Prime Minister Erdogan as based on Turkey’s drift to Islamism and the Arab world. Far from it, Erdogan and his Justice and Development Party (AKP) seem to have finally seen a way to break free from the domination and cruelty of the Dönmeh, whether in the form of Kemalist followers of Ataturk or nationalist schemers and plotters in Ergenekon. But with Turkey’s “Independence Day” has come vitriol from the Dönmeh and their natural allies in Israel and the Israel Lobby in the United States and Europe. Turkey as a member of the European Union was fine for Europe as long as the Dönmeh remained in charge and permitted Turkey’s wealth to be looted by central bankers like has occurred in Greece.

When Israel launched its bloody attack on the Turkish Gaza aid vessel, the Mavi Marmara, on May 31, 2010, the reason was not so much the ship’s running of the Israeli blockade of Gaza. The brutality of the Israelis in shooting unarmed Turks and one Turkish-American, some at point blank range, according to a UN report, indicated that Israel was motivated by something else: vengeance and retaliation for the Turkish government’s crackdown on Ergenekon, the purging of the Turkish military and intelligence senior ranks of Dönmeh, and reversing the anti-Muslim religious and cultural policies set down by the Dönmeh’s favorite son, Ataturk, some ninety years before. In effect, the Israeli attack on the Mavi Marmara was in retaliation for Turkey’s jailing of several top Turkish military officers, journalists, and academics, all accused of being part of the Ergenekon plot to overthrow the AKP government in 2003. Hidden in the Ergenekon coup plot is that the Dönmeh and Ergenekon are connected through their history of being Kemalists, ardent secularists, pro-Israeli, and pro-Zionist.

With tempers now flaring between Iran on one side and Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the United States on the other, as the result of a dubious claim by U.S. law enforcement that Iran was planning to carry out the assassination of the Saudi ambassador to the United States on American soil, the long-standing close, but secretive relationship between Israel and Saudi Arabia is coming to the forefront. The Israeli-Saudi connection had flourished during OPERATION DESERT STORM, when both countries were on the receiving end of Saddam Hussein’s Scud missiles.

After the UNESCO descision to admit Palestine, Israel have done all they can, including the highly suspect and coincidentally timed "rocket "attacks, and retalitory air strikes,
and a cyber hacker attack from the oh so usual suspects, plus a host of other nasty poor loser behaviours..
psychopathic behaviour actually.

Israel cancels UNESCO membership

Israel has cancelled its membership of UNESCO in protest at the UN agency's vote to admit Palestine as a full member.

Israel has already taken other measures in retaliation for UNESCO's move, which saw 114 UNESCO states agree to accept Palestinian membership.

Palestinian leaders are hoping many more UN agencies will follow suit and that it will boost their hopes of similar recognition at the UN itself.
But Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has now ordered a halt to Israel's financial contributions to UNESCO in protest.
The US has also announced similar action. The US provides around 22 per cent of UNESCO's funding.
Israel on Tuesday suspended tax revenues to the Palestinian Authority and it has accelerated construction of thousands of Jewish houses in a West Bank settlement.
UNESCO said the cut in funding from the US will threaten some of its programs including Holocaust education and a tsunami warning program.(end snip)

Israel has reportedly ordered its military to prepare for a ground operation in Gaza.

The move is aimed at stopping the recent spate of rocket attacks into Israel which killed an Israeli man and wounded several others at the weekend.

The order comes one day after Palestine was granted membership to the United Nation's cultural body UNESCO, angering Israel and the US, who said the move threatened peace talks.

Israeli warplanes have launched a series of strikes in Gaza since Saturday, killing at least 11 Palestinians suspected of involvement in launching dozens of rockets and mortars into Israel.

For days an Israeli drone has been flying above Gaza, searching for more rocket launchers.
Now a military official says the government has authorised the army to take all necessary steps to stop the rocket fire, including a ground operation.

The decision stops short of ordering tanks to roll into Gaza.(end snip)

Israel tests missile as warning to Iranians

AS ISRAEL'S Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, reportedly continues to press senior ministers to support an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, the government and the Israeli people remain deeply divided on the issue.

Israel's test launch of a ballistic missile at Palmachim Air Force Base on Wednesday, in an apparent show of military strength, has ensured the threat of Iran's nuclear capabilities remains firmly on the public agenda.

International sources quoted in the Israeli media said the test appeared to have been conducted with a ''surface-to-surface'' missile known as the Jericho 3, which has a range of between 3000 and 7000 kilometres and is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.

Besides the missile test, the Israel Defence Forces conducted adrill over the Italian island of Sardinia using F-16 fighter jets to simulate striking targets, and last night the IDF announced a drill in the Tel Aviv area that would simulate an attack with rockets and chemical agents.

Life Events

Well, you may be wondering why no posts from me for over one month..
to be brutally honest, my life is falling apart, or at least it seems that way to me..
Just basic point form so you know the deal..

My mother has terminal cancer and is going through the hell of chemo and won't even consider any alternative( i know, her choice)

My son, who is 8, has been medevaced interstate for an emergency operation on his bowel, as he had an obstuction.(and i couldn't go with him as i have a 2 year old to care for as well, and it took 3 weeks for him to heal enough to get back here), he just got back.

We had to move house,( last weekend) to somewhere smaller, different and away from our neighbourhood where i have lived for the past 6 years.

And now Mr A13 has gone to work "offshore" for 5 days at least during all of this "change" and stress, and it's been one thing after another, in very quick succession ,so hence no blog....

I will be back and up and running when i feel that the universe is done messing with me and mine..
Thanks to my readers who keep checking the blog, and i will be back when things have subsided a bit and i feel like a human being again, not stressed out, maxed out, and pushed to the point of just getting each day done without failing those that depend on me.

So again, dear friends in blog land, i'm hanging in there, and i'm sure you know when there is a cascade of shit happening it truly does get overwhelming...and i am there.

Current trends suggest breast and cervical cancer deaths are starting to overtake the previous primary cause of female deaths, which was complications during childbirth and pregnancy in the developing world, AFP is reporting.

In just three decades, breast cancer rates have more than doubled, from 641,000 cases in 1980 to 1.6 million cases in 2010, a pace far exceeding global population growth. During that same period, deaths from breast cancer rose from 250,000 to 425,000 in 2010.

This indicates that screening and treatment programs are having an impact. Cervical cancer cases grew from 378,000 cases in 1980 to 454,000 in 2010. Mortality numbers from cervical cancer grew to 200,000 over the same period, nearly the same pace as cases, BBC Health News reports.

Females from developed countries are less likely to suffer increasing cancer rates due in part to more available screening, medicines, anti-smoking policies and vaccines.

Dr. Rafael Lozano, professor of global health at IHME, and co-author of the paper, said breast cancer was primarily a problem for high-income countries but as the world has become more globalized, this is starting to change.

“The main known risk factors for breast cancer – poor diet and obesity –
are now becoming more commonplace in poor countries,” he explains. “We have found that while countries such as the United States and United Kingdom have been able to lower the risks of women dying from breast cancer, through better screening and treatment, countries with fewer resources are seeing the risks go up.”

IHME has published a report, ‘The Challenge Ahead: Progress and Setbacks in Breast and Cervical Cancer’, which provides global, regional, and country data for cases, deaths, and risks over the past three decades. The work was funded by Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

“We at Susan G. Komen for the Cure have seen firsthand the growing burden of breast and cervical cancers in our outreach to low-resource countries in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and central Europe.”

“This report confirms what we have witnessed, and adds urgency to calls to world health leaders to make cancer screening, treatment, and education a priority in the developing world,” said Elizabeth Thompson, president of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The highest growth rates have been in north Africa, the Middle East, Oceania, south-east Asia, western sub-Saharan Africa and Central America. Cases have risen most slowly in the rich, developed countries. The UK has one of the lowest growth rates at 1 percent a year, reports The Guardian.

“There is a perception that breast cancer is a disease of older women in developed countries,” said Christopher Murray, lead author of the IHME paper published online by the Lancet medical journal.
“Part of the analysis says it is already a big issue for younger women in the developing world. In many countries it may be a bigger issue than maternal mortality.”(end snip)

Why would these rates be rising in "poorer less developed countries?
I wonder if it ties in with so called Vaccination programs? especially for the female HPV (human papilloma virus)

Mitsubishi MISSILE factories Hit with a Cyber Attack

I wonder if this cyber attack is being concerted by the same "group" that targeted Iran and maybe Fukushima??

Missile and submarine secrets 'may have been stolen' in cyber attack on Japanese defence firm

"Some of Japan’s most sensitive defence secrets have been targeted by hackers, who have gained access to up to 80 computers of its biggest defence contractor - in what appeared to be a coordinated attack.

Contractor Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd said today its submarine, missile and nuclear plant component factories had been targeted, according to a report.

Some information could have been stolen in the first known cyber attack on Japan’s defence industry, the company confessed today.

We've found out that some system information such as IP addresses have been leaked and that's creepy enough,’ said a Mitsubishi Heavy spokesman.
‘We can't rule out small possibilities of further information leakage but so far crucial data about our products or technologies have been kept safe,’ he said, adding the company first noticed the cyberattack on August 11.

Around 80 virus-infected computers were found at the company’s headquarter, the Yomiuri newspaper reported, as well as manufacturing, research and development sites.
One of these, the Kobe Shipyard, currently builds submarines and makes components to build nuclear power stations. The Nagoya plant, meanwhile, makes guided missiles and rocket engines, according to the publication.

At least eight different kinds of computer virus including trojans were found at Mitsubishi Heavy's main office or production sites, the Yomiuri said.
Such viruses are often used by professional hackers in 'spear phishing' attacks where an email appearing to be from a trusted colleague in fact delivers malicious software.

Mitsubishi Heavy is the country's biggest defense contractor, winning 215 deals worth 260 billion yen ($3.4 billion) from Japan's Ministry of Defense in the year to last March, or nearly a quarter of the ministry's spending that year.

Weapons included surface-to-air Patriot missiles and AIM-7 Sparrow air-to-air missiles.
Mitsubishi Heavy has also been working closely with Boeing, making wings for its 787 Dreamliner jets.

‘It's probably just the first that hacking attacks in Japan have been detected. It's consistent with what we've seen already with big American defence companies,’ Andrew Davies, a cyber-warfare analyst with the government backed defence think-tank, the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, told Reuters.

‘The Japanese make large conventional submarines that are among the world's most sophisticated ... (they) have very nicely integrated solutions with their own mechanical, electronic and control systems, so it a pretty attractive hacking proposition, to get the design of a Japanese submarine,’ he added.(end snips)

So,another Japanese Company attacked, and again, this company have a connection to Israel.

"(Reuters) - Holding company Israel Corp said on Sunday its subsidiary, OPC Rotem, had signed a letter of intent to hire South Korea's Daewoo as contractor to build the Rotem power plant in Israel's Negev desert.

The equipment to build the plant will be purchased from Japan's Mitsubishi, Israel Corp said in a statement, adding that the agreements with Daewoo and Mitsubishi will be worth about $470 million.

Work on the 440-megawatt plant is scheduled to begin at the end of 2010 and commercial operations will start in December 2012.

Payments for maintenance of the main parts of the plant over 15 years will be paid directly to Mitsubishi.
The companies are working towards signing binding agreements by June 22.

OPC Rotem also has an option for an additional similar plant at the same price if it decides to build another power plant in Israel in the next year and a half. (end snip)

Siemens chief executive Peter Loescher has told a German newspaper the company has "closed the chapter" on building or financing nuclear plants.''

"We will no longer be involved in overall managing of building or financing nuclear plants," Mr Loescher told the Der Spiegel weekly.

"We will from now on supply only conventional equipment such as steam turbines. This means we are restricting ourselves to technologies that are not only for nuclear purposes but can also be used in gas or coal plants."
Since the March nuclear disaster in Fukushima there has been heated debate in Germany about the safety of nuclear power.
The government has already switched off several of its Siemens-built reactors and it plans to phase out nuclear energy completely by 2022."

Further investegation is needed into whether this cyber attack has anything to do with Siemens systems like the stuxnet worm did?

We know from thwe past that many of these plants and facillities use seimens automation systems and controllers, and that seimems copped some flak" for "doing business" with Iran via it's nuclear power opperations.

Threat of 9/11 repeat 'very real', says Panetta on sombre visit to World Trade Center memorial site

The U.S. could once again be hit by a similar terrorist attack to 9/11, according to the country's Defense Secretary.

Pentagon chief Leon Panetta said citizens must remain 'vigilant' and that the threat of a repeat of an event like Sepember 11 was 'very real'.

He added that the terrorist threat had, since the capturing or killing of Al Qaeda's top leaders in recent months, now evolved - with Yemen currently posing the biggest threat" (end snip)

What i will say that i have found correspondingly alarming is the fact that with the recent hype and subsequent evacuations, shut downs and all of what happened with the Hurricane Irene "panic"..is that the subways and many other places were "closed" while the "storm" passed through that area..

what do you think that could be a perfect cover for..

You all know that the hurricane Irene was nowhere near as bad as what TPTB were telling everyone, putting fear into all the people and keeping them away from certain areas and massive public places..

In that time, when shutdown was on process..could there have been some covert activies taking place in certain areas? some special "team" in action perhaps?

I'm just hypothesizing here BUT:

WHAT if there is a carefully placed mini nuke or 2... Or a time release virus / bioweapon on the subway system?...whatever the poison..then blame Yemen, and invade and destroy Yemen and neighboring countries as seems to be the Agenda..and again head screw the people with fear and terror into giving away yet more freedoms...accepting cures ( vaccines) or being moved away to Fema camps to stay "safe"...

Just some thoughts..

I wouldn't put it past "them", the same evil psychopaths that brought us the first installment back in 2001, and on the 10th anniversary of the deed, it would be mockingly apt if something similar happened again...

United States security officials say they are investigating a credible terror threat to the nation ahead of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

‘‘In this instance, it’s accurate that there is specific, credible but unconfirmed threat information,’’ the Department of Homeland Security said.
‘‘We have taken, and will continue to take all steps necessary to mitigate any threats that arise,’’ it added in a statement.
The department noted that in the US raid that killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in May, documents and computer files seized at this compound showed the terror network had pondered strikes to coincide with Sunday’s anniversary, including against American trains.

‘‘We continue to ask the American people to remain vigilant as we head into the weekend,’’ it said.

The announcement came after the Pentagon on Wednesday raised the alert level at bases across the United States as ‘‘a prudent and precautionary measure,’’ given al-Qaeda’s interest in milestones and anniversaries. (end snip)

“Psychopath! psychopath!”
I’m alone in my living room and I’m yelling at my TV. “Forget rehabilitation — that guy is a psychopath.”
Ever since I visited Dr. Robert Hare in Vancouver, I can see them, the psychopaths. It’s pretty easy, once you know how to look. I’m watching a documentary about an American prison trying to rehabilitate teen murderers.

They’re using an emotionally intense kind of group therapy, and I can see, as plain as day, that one of the inmates is a psychopath. He tries, but he can’t muster a convincing breakdown, can’t fake any feeling for his dead victims. He’s learned the words, as Bob Hare would put it, but not the music.

The incredible thing, the reason I’m yelling, is that no one in this documentary — the therapists, the warden, the omniscient narrator — seems to know the word “psychopath.” It is never uttered, yet it changes everything. A psychopath can never be made to feel the horror of murder. Weeks of intense therapy, which are producing real breakthroughs in the other youths, will probably make a psychopath more likely to reoffend. Psychopaths are not like the rest of us, and everyone who studies them agrees they should not be treated as if they were.

I think of Bob Hare, who’s in New Orleans receiving yet another award, and wonder if he’s watching the same show in his hotel room and feeling the same frustration. A lifetime spent looking into the heads of psychopaths has made the slight, slightly anxious emeritus professor of psychology at the University of British Columbia the world’s best-known expert on the species. Hare hasn’t merely changed our understanding of psychopaths. It would be more accurate to say he has created it.

The condition itself has been recognized for centuries, wearing evocative labels such as “madness without delirium” and “moral insanity” until the late 1800s, when “psychopath” was coined by a German clinician. But the term (and its 1930s synonym, sociopath) had always been a sort of catch-all, widely and loosely applied to criminals who seemed violent and unstable. Even into the mid-1970s, almost 80 percent of convicted felons in the United States were being diagnosed as sociopaths. In 1980, Hare created a diagnostic tool called the Psychopathy Checklist, which, revised five years later, became known as the PCL-R. Popularly called “the Hare,” the PCL-R measures psychopathy on a forty-point scale. Once it emerged, it was the first time in history that everyone who said “psychopath” was saying the same thing. For research in the field, it was like a starting gun.

But for Hare, it has turned out to be a Pandora’s box. Recently retired from teaching, his very last Ph.D. student about to leave the nest, Hare, sixty-eight, should be basking in professional accolades and enjoying his well-earned rest. But he isn’t.

The PCL-R has slipped the confines of academe, and is being used and misused in ways that Hare never intended. In some of the places where it could do some good — such as the prison in the TV documentary I was yelling at — the idea of psychopathy goes unacknowledged, usually because it’s politically incorrect to declare someone to be beyond rehabilitation. At the opposite extreme, there are cases in which Hare’s work has been overloaded with political baggage of another sort, such as in the United States, where a high PCL-R score is used to support death-penalty arguments, and in England, where a debate is underway about whether some individuals with personality disorders (such as psychopaths) should be detained even if they haven’t committed a crime.

So, after decades of labour in peaceful obscurity, Bob Hare has become a man with a suitcase, a passport, and a PowerPoint presentation, a reluctant celebrity at gatherings of judges, attorneys, prison administrators, psychologists, and police. His post-retirement mission is to be a good shepherd to his Psychopathy Checklist.
“I’m protecting it from erosion, from distortion. It could easily be compromised,” he says. “I’m a scientist; I should just be doing basic research, but I’m being called on all the time to intervene and mediate.”
And it’s really just beginning. Psychopathy may prove to be as important a construct in this century as IQ was in the last (and just as susceptible to abuse), because, thanks to Hare, we now understand that the great majority of psychopaths are not violent criminals and never will be. Hundreds of thousands of psychopaths live and work and prey among us. Your boss, your boyfriend, your mother could be what Hare calls a “subclinical” psychopath, someone who leaves a path of destruction and pain without a single pang of conscience. Even more worrisome is the fact that, at this stage, no one — not even Bob Hare — is quite sure what to do about it.

Bob hare has to meet me in the lobby of the UBC psychology building, since he’s not listed in the directory. He’s had threats, by e-mail and in person. An ex-con showed up one day, angry that a friend of his had been declared a dangerous offender thanks to Hare’s checklist. Other characters have appeared in his lab doorway, looking in and saying nothing.

We immediately find ourselves discussing the criminal du jour, the jet-setting French con man Christophe Rocancourt, notorious for passing himself off as a member of the Rockefeller family, who has just been arrested in Victoria.
“I’d sure as hell like to have a close look at him,” Hare muses.
Like every scientist, Hare likes a good puzzle, and that was reason enough to make a career out of psychopaths. “These were particularly interesting human beings,” he says. “Everything about them seemed to be paradoxical. They could do things that a lot of other people could not do” — lie, steal, rape, murder — “but they looked perfectly normal, and when you talked to them they seemed okay. It was a puzzle. I thought I’d try and unravel it.”
Hare arrived at UBC in 1963, intending to follow up his doctoral research on punishment. Certain prisoners, it was rumoured, didn’t respond to punishment, and Hare went to the federal penitentiary in New Westminster, British Columbia, to find these extreme cases. (He found plenty. In his chilling 1993 book on psychopathy, Without Conscience: The Disturbing World of the Psychopaths Among Us, he quotes one specimen’s memories: “[M]y mother, the most beautiful person in the world. She was strong, she worked hard to take care of four kids. A beautiful person. I started stealing her jewellery when I was in the fifth grade. You know, I never really knew the bitch — we went our separate ways.”)

For his first paper, now a classic, Hare had his subjects watch a countdown timer. When it reached zero, they got a “harmless but painful” electric shock while an electrode taped to their fingers measured perspiration. Normal people would start sweating as the countdown proceeded, nervously anticipating the shock. Psychopaths didn’t sweat. They didn’t fear punishment — which, presumably, also holds true outside the laboratory. In Without Conscience, he quotes a psychopathic rapist explaining why he finds it hard to empathize with his victims: “They are frightened, right? But, you see, I don’t really understand it. I’ve been frightened myself, and it wasn’t unpleasant.”

In another Hare study, groups of letters were flashed to volunteers. Some of them were nonsense, some formed real words. The subject’s job was to press a button whenever he recognized a real word, while Hare recorded response time and brain activity. Non-psychopaths respond faster and display more brain activity when processing emotionally loaded words such as “rape” or “cancer” than when they see neutral words such as “tree.” With psychopaths, Hare found no difference. To them, “rape” and “tree” have the same emotional impact — none.

Hare made another intriguing discovery by observing the hand gestures (called beats) people make while speaking. Research has shown that such gestures do more than add visual emphasis to our words (many people gesture while they’re on the telephone, for example); it seems they actually help our brains find words. That’s why the frequency of beats increases when someone is having trouble finding words, or is speaking a second language instead of his or her mother tongue. In a 1991 paper, Hare and his colleagues reported that psychopaths, especially when talking about things they should find emotional, such as their families, produce a higher frequency of beats than normal people. It’s as if emotional language is a second language — a foreign language, in effect — to the psychopath.

Three decades of these studies, by Hare and others, has confirmed that psychopaths’ brains work differently from ours, especially when processing emotion and language. Hare once illustrated this for Nicole Kidman, who had invited him to Hollywood to help her prepare for a role as a psychopath in Malice. How, she wondered, could she show the audience there was something fundamentally wrong with her character?
“I said, ‘Here’s a scene that you can use,’ ” Hare says. ” ‘You’re walking down a street and there’s an accident. A car has hit a child in the crosswalk. A crowd of people gather round. You walk up, the child’s lying on the ground and there’s blood running all over the place. You get a little blood on your shoes and you look down and say, “Oh shit.” You look over at the child, kind of interested, but you’re not repelled or horrified. You’re just interested. Then you look at the mother, and you’re really fascinated by the mother, who’s emoting, crying out, doing all these different things. After a few minutes you turn away and go back to your house. You go into the bathroom and practice mimicking the facial expressions of the mother.’ ” He then pauses and says, “That’s the psychopath: somebody who doesn’t understand what’s going on emotionally, but understands that something important has happened.”

Hare’s research upset a lot of people. Until the psychopath came into focus, it was possible to believe that bad people were just good people with bad parents or childhood trauma and that, with care, you could talk them back into being good. Hare’s research suggested that some people behaved badly even when there had been no early trauma. Moreover, since psychopaths’ brains were in fundamental ways different from ours, talking them into being like us might not be easy. Indeed, to this day, no one has found a way to do so.
“Some of the things he was saying about these individuals, it was unheard of,” says Dr. Steven Stein, a psychologist and ceo of Multi-Health Systems in Toronto, the publisher of the Psychopathy Checklist. “Nobody believed him thirty years ago, but Bob hasn’t wavered, and now everyone’s where he is. Everyone’s come full circle, except a small group who believe it’s bad upbringing, family poverty, those kinds of factors, even though scientific evidence has shown that’s not the case. There are wealthy psychopaths who’ve done horrendous things, and they were brought up in wonderful families.”

“There’s still a lot of opposition — some criminologists, sociologists, and psychologists don’t like psychopathy at all,” Hare says. “I can spend the entire day going through the literature — it’s overwhelming, and unless you’re semi-brain-dead you’re stunned by it — but a lot of people come out of there and say, ‘So what? Psychopathy is a mythological construct.’ They have political and social agendas: ‘People are inherently good,’ they say. ‘Just give them a hug, a puppy dog, and a musical instrument and they’re all going to be okay.’ “
If Hare sounds a little bitter, it’s because a decade ago, Correctional Service of Canada asked him to design a treatment program for psychopaths, but just after he submitted the plan in 1992, there were personnel changes at the top of CSC. The new team had a different agenda, which Hare summarizes as, “We don’t believe in the badness of people.” His plan sank without a trace.
By the late 1970s, after fifteen years in the business, Bob Hare knew what he was looking for when it came to psychopaths. They exhibit a cluster of distinctive personality traits, the most significant of which is an utter lack of conscience. They also have huge egos, short tempers, and an appetite for excitement — a dangerous mix. In a typical prison population, about 20 percent of the inmates satisfy the Hare definition of a psychopath, but they are responsible for over half of all violent crime.
The research community, Hare realized, lacked a standard definition. “I found that we were all talking a different language, we were on different diagnostic pages, and I decided that we had to have some common instrument,” he says. “The PCL-R was really designed to make it easier to publish articles and to let journal editors and reviewers know what I meant by psychopathy.”

The Psychopathy Checklist consists of a set of forms and a manual that describes in detail how to score a subject in twenty categories that define psychopathy. Is he (or, more rarely, she) glib and superficially charming, callous and without empathy? Does he have a grandiose sense of self worth, shallow emotions, a lack of remorse or guilt? Is he impulsive, irresponsible, promiscuous? Did he have behavioural problems early in life? The information for each category must be carefully drawn from documents such as court transcripts, police reports, psychologists’ reports, and victim-impact statements, and not solely from an interview, since psychopaths are superb liars (“pathological lying” and “conning/manipulative” are PCL-R categories). A prisoner may claim to love his family, for example, while his records show no visits or phone calls.
For each item, assessors — psychologists or psychiatrists — assign a score of zero (the item doesn’t apply), one (the item applies in some respects), or two (the item applies in most respects). The maximum possible score is forty, and the boundary for clinical psychopathy hovers around thirty. Last year, the average score for all incarcerated male offenders in North America was 23.3. Hare guesses his own score would be about four or five.
In 1980, Hare’s initial checklist began circulating in the research community, and it quickly became the standard. At last count nearly 500 papers and 150 doctoral dissertations had been based on it.
It’s also found practical applications in police-squad rooms. Soon after he delivered a keynote speech at a conference for homicide detectives and prosecuting attorneys in Seattle three years ago, Hare got a letter thanking him for helping solve a series of homicides. The police had a suspect nailed for a couple of murders, but believed he was responsible for others. They were using the usual strategy to get a confession, telling him, ‘Think how much better you’ll feel, think of the families left behind,’ and so on. After they’d heard Hare speak they realized they were dealing with a psychopath, someone who could feel neither guilt nor sorrow. They changed their interrogation tactic to, “So you murdered a couple of prostitutes. That’s minor-league compared to Bundy or Gacy.” The appeal to the psychopath’s grandiosity worked. He didn’t just confess to his other crimes, he bragged about them.

The most startling finding to emerge from Hare’s work is that the popular image of the psychopath as a remorseless, smiling killer — Paul Bernardo, Clifford Olson, John Wayne Gacy — while not wrong, is incomplete. Yes, almost all serial killers, and most of Canada’s dangerous offenders, are psychopaths, but violent criminals are just a tiny fraction of the psychopaths around us. Hare estimates that 1 percent of the population — 300,000 people in Canada — are psychopaths.

He calls them “subclinical” psychopaths. They’re the charming predators who, unable to form real emotional bonds, find and use vulnerable women for sex and money (and inevitably abandon them). They’re the con men like Christophe Rocancourt, and they’re the stockbrokers and promoters who caused Forbes magazine to call the Vancouver Stock Exchange (now part of the Canadian Venture Exchange) the scam capital of the world. (Hare has said that if he couldn’t study psychopaths in prisons, the Vancouver Stock Exchange would have been his second choice.) A significant proportion of persistent wife beaters, and people who have unprotected sex despite carrying the AIDS virus, are psychopaths. Psychopaths can be found in legislatures, hospitals, and used-car lots. They’re your neighbour, your boss, and your blind date. Because they have no conscience, they’re natural predators. If you didn’t have a conscience, you’d be one too.

Psychopaths love chaos and hate rules, so they’re comfortable in the fast-moving modern corporation. Dr. Paul Babiak, an industrial-organizational psychologist based near New York City, is in the process of writing a book with Bob Hare called When Psychopaths Go to Work: Cons, Bullies and the Puppetmaster. The subtitle refers to the three broad classes of psychopaths Babiak has encountered in the workplace.

“The con man works one-on-one,” says Babiak. “They’ll go after a woman, marry her, take her money, then move on and marry someone else. The puppet master would manipulate somebody to get at someone else. This type is more powerful because they’re hidden.” Babiak says psychopaths have three motivations: thrill-seeking, the pathological desire to win, and the inclination to hurt people. “They’ll jump on any opportunity that allows them to do those things,” he says. “If something better comes along, they’ll drop you and move on.”
How can you tell if your boss is a psychopath? It’s not easy, says Babiak. “They have traits similar to ideal leaders. You would expect an ideal leader to be narcissistic, self-centred, dominant, very assertive, maybe to the point of being aggressive. Those things can easily be mistaken for the aggression and bullying that a psychopath would demonstrate. The ability to get people to follow you is a leadership trait, but being charismatic to the point of manipulating people is a psychopathic trait. They can sometimes be confused.”
Once inside a company, psychopaths can be hard to excise. Babiak tells of a salesperson and psychopath — call him John — who was performing badly but not suffering for it. John was managing his boss — flattering him, taking him out for drinks, flying to his side when he was in trouble. In return, his boss covered for him by hiding John’s poor performance. The arrangement lasted until John’s boss was moved. When his replacement called John to task for his abysmal sales numbers, John was a step ahead.
He’d already gone to the company president with a set of facts he used to argue that his new boss, and not he, should be fired. But he made a crucial mistake. “It was actually stolen data,” Babiak says. “The only way [John] could have obtained it would be for him to have gone into a file into which no one was supposed to go. That seemed to be enough, and he was fired rather than the boss. Even so, in the end, he walked out with a company car, a bag of money, and a good reference.”

“A lot of white-collar criminals are psychopaths,” says Bob Hare. “But they flourish because the characteristics that define the disorder are actually valued. When they get caught, what happens? A slap on the wrist, a six-month ban from trading, and don’t give us the $100 million back. I’ve always looked at white-collar crime as being as bad or worse than some of the physically violent crimes that are committed.”
The best way to protect the workplace is not to hire psychopaths in the first place. That means training interviewers so they’re less likely to be manipulated and conned. It means checking resumés for lies and distortions, and it means following up references.

Paul Babiak says he’s “not comfortable” with one researcher’s estimate that one in ten executives is a psychopath, but he has noticed that they are attracted to positions of power. When he describes employees such as John to other executives, they know exactly whom he’s talking about. “I was talking to a group of human-resources executives yesterday,” says Babiak, “and every one of them said, you know, I think I’ve got somebody like that.”

By now, you’re probably thinking the same thing. The number of psychopaths in society is about the same as the number of schizophrenics, but unlike schizophrenics, psychopaths aren’t loners. That means most of us have met or will meet one. Hare gets dozens of letters and e-mail messages every month from people who say they recognize someone they know while reading Without Conscience. They go on to describe a brother, a sister, a husband. ” ‘Please help my seventeen-year-old son. . . .’ ” Hare reads aloud from one such missive. “It’s a heart-rending letter, but what can I do? I’m not a clinician. I have hundreds of these things, and some of them are thirty or forty pages long.”

Hare’s book opened my eyes, too. Reading it, I realized that I might have known a psychopath, Jonathan, at the computer company where I worked in London, England, over twenty years ago. He was charming and confident, and from the moment he arrived he was on excellent terms with the executive inner circle. Jonathan had big plans and promised me that I was a big part of them. One night when I was alone in the office, Jonathan appeared, accompanied by what anyone should have recognized as two prostitutes. “These are two high-ranking staff from the Ministry of Defence,” he said without missing a beat. “We’re going over the details of a contract, which I’m afraid is classified top secret. You’ll have to leave the building.” His voice and eyes were absolutely persuasive and I complied. A few weeks later Jonathan was arrested. He had embezzled tens of thousands of pounds from the small firm, used the company as a mailing address for a marijuana importing business he was running on the side, and robbed the apartment of the company’s owner, who was letting him stay there temporarily.

Like everyone who has been suckered by a psychopath — and Bob Hare includes himself and many of his graduate students (who have been trained to spot them) in that list — I’m ashamed that I fell for Jonathan. But he was brilliant, charismatic, and audacious. He radiated money and power (though in fact he had neither), while his real self — manipulative, lying, parasitic, and irresponsible — was just far enough under his surface to be invisible. Or was it? Maybe I didn’t know how to look, or maybe I didn’t really want to.
I saw his name in the news again recently. “A con man tricked top sports car makers Lotus into lending him a £70,000 model . . . then stole it and drove 6,000 miles across Europe, a court heard,” the story began.
Knowing Jonathan is probably a psychopath makes me feel better. It’s an explanation.

But away from the workplace, back in the world of the criminally violent psychopath, Hare’s checklist has become broadly known, so broadly known, in fact, that it is now a constant source of concern for him. “People are misusing it, and they’re misusing it in really strange ways,” Hare says. “There are lots of clinicians who don’t even have a manual. All they’ve seen is an article with the twenty items — promiscuity, impulsiveness, and so forth — listed.”

In court, assessments of the same person done by defence and prosecution “experts” have varied by as much as twenty points. Such drastic differences are almost certainly the result of bias or incompetence, since research on the PCL-R itself has shown it has high “inter-rater reliability” (consistent results when a subject is assessed by more than one qualified assessor). In one court case, it was used to label a thirteen-year-old a psychopath, even though the PCL-R test is only meant to be used to rate adults with criminal histories. The test should be administered only by mental-health professionals (like all such psychological instruments, it is only for sale to those with credentials), but a social worker once used the PCL-R in testimony in a death-penalty case — not because she was qualified but because she thought it was “interesting.”
It shouldn’t be used in death-penalty cases at all, Hare says, but U.S. Federal District Courts have ruled it admissible because it meets scientific standards.

“Bob and others like myself are saying it doesn’t meet the ethical standards,” says Dr. Henry Richards, a psychopathy researcher at the University of Washington. “A psychological instrument and diagnosis should not be a determinant of whether someone gets the death sentence. That’s more of an ethical and political decision.”
And into the ethical and political realm — the realm of extrapolation, of speculation, of opinion — Hare will not step. He’s been asked to be a guest on Oprah (twice), 60 Minutes, and Larry King Live. Oprah wanted him alongside a psychopath and his victim. “I said, ‘This is a circus,’ ” Hare says. “I couldn’t do that.” 60 Minutes also wanted to “make it sexy” by throwing real live psychopaths into the mix. Larry King Live phoned him at home while O. J. Simpson was rolling down the freeway in his white Bronco. Hare says no every time (while his publisher gently weeps).

Even in his particular area, Hare is unfailingly circumspect. Asked if he thinks there will ever be a cure for psychopathy — a drug, an operation — Hare steps back and examines the question. “The psychopath will say ‘A cure for what?’ I don’t feel comfortable calling it a disease. Much of their behaviour, even the neurobiological patterns we observe, could be because they’re using different strategies to get around the world. These strategies don’t have to involve faulty wiring, just different wiring.”
Are these people qualitatively different from us? “I would think yes,” says Hare. “Do they form a discrete taxon or category? I would say probably — the evidence is suggesting that. But does this mean that’s because they have a broken motor? I don’t know. It could be a natural variation.” True saints, completely selfless individuals, are rare and unnatural too, he points out, but we don’t talk about their being diseased.
Psychopathy research is raising more questions than it can answer, and many of them are leading to moral and ethical quagmires. For example: the PCL-R has turned out to be the best single predictor of recidivism that has ever existed; an offender with a high PCL-R score is three or four times more likely to reoffend than someone with a low score. Should a high PCL-R score, then, be sufficient grounds for denying parole? Or perhaps a psychopathy test could be used to prevent crime by screening individuals or groups at high risk — for example, when police get a frantic “My boyfriend says he’ll kill me” call, or when a teacher reports a student threatening to commit violence. Should society institutionalize psychopaths, even if they haven’t broken the law?

The United Kingdom, partly in response to the 1993 abduction and murder of two-year-old James Bulger by two ten-year-olds, and partly in response to PCL-R data, is in the process of creating a new legal classification called Dangerous and Severe Personality Disorder (DSPD). As it stands, the government proposes to allow authorities to detain people declared DSPD, even if they have not committed a crime. (Sample text from one of the Web sites that have sprung up in response: “I was diagnosed with an untreatable personality disorder by a doctor who saw me for ten minutes, he later claimed I was a psychopath. . . . Please don’t let them do this to me; don’t let them do it to anybody. I’m not a danger to the public, nor are most mentally ill people.”)

Hare is a consultant on the DSPD project, and finds the potential for abuse of power horrifying. So do scientists such as Dr. Richard Tees, head of psychology at UBC, a colleague of Hare’s since 1965. “I am concerned about our political masters deciding that the PCL-R is the silver bullet that’s going to fix everything,” he says. “We’ll let people out [of prison] on the basis of scores on this, and we’ll put them in. And we’ll take children who do badly on some version of this and segregate them or something. It wasn’t designed to do any of these things. The problems that politicians are trying to solve are fundamentally more complicated than the one that Bob has solved.”

So many of these awkward questions would vanish if only there were a functioning treatment program for psychopathy. But there isn’t. In fact, several studies have shown that existing treatment makes criminal psychopaths worse. In one, psychopaths who underwent social-skills and anger-management training before release had an 82 percent reconviction rate. Psychopaths who didn’t take the program had a 59 percent reconviction rate. Conventional psychotherapy starts with the assumption that a patient wants to change, but psychopaths are usually perfectly happy as they are. They enrol in such programs to improve their chances of parole. “These guys learn the words but not the music,” Hare says. “They can repeat all the psychiatric jargon — ‘I feel remorse,’ they talk about the offence cycle — but these are words, hollow words.”

Hare has co-developed a new treatment program specifically for violent psychopaths, using what he knows about the psychopathic personality. The idea is to encourage them to be better by appealing not to their (non-existent) altruism but to their (abundant) self-interest.

“It’s not designed to change personality, but to modify behaviour by, among other things, convincing them that there are ways they can get what they want without harming others,” Hare explains. The program will try to make them understand that violence is bad, not for society, but for the psychopath himself. (Look where it got you: jail.) A similar program will soon be put in place for psychopathic offenders in the UK.
“The irony is that Canada could have had this all set up and they could have been leaders in the world. But they dropped the ball completely,” Hare says, referring to his decade-old treatment proposal, sitting on a shelf somewhere within Corrections Canada.

Even if Hare’s treatment program works, it will only address the violent minority of psychopaths. What about the majority, the subclinical psychopaths milling all around us? At the moment, the only thing Hare and his colleagues can offer is self-protection through self-education. Know your own weaknesses, they advise, because the psychopath will find and use them. Learn to recognize the psychopath, they tell us, before adding that even experts are regularly taken in.

After thirty-five years of work, Bob Hare has brought us to the stage where we know what psychopathy is, how much damage psychopaths do, and even how to identify them. But we don’t know how to treat them or protect the population from them. The real work is just beginning. Solving the puzzle of the psychopath is an invigorating prospect — if you’re a scientist. Perhaps the rest of us can be forgiven for our impatience to see the whole thing come to an end.

The Battle of Long Tan: Vietnam August 1966

This is a breif return, by me, to honour those fellow Aussies that were killed fighting in Vietnam.
The memorial for this is today.
Those who know me know I deplore and abhor war, but today I will write out of respect, for those who served and have suffered.

The newly arrived 1st Australian Task Force established its Phuoc Tuy operations base in 1966 at Nui Dat, a piece of high ground surrounded by rubber plantations.

The Viet Cong had achieved dominion in the province and decided to inflict a politically unacceptable defeat on the Australians. Their plan was to lure the Australians from their base by firing recoilless rifle and mortar shells into it.

They theorised that the Australians would sweep the area around the base in an attempt to stop the attacks, and the Viet Cong would ambush the sweeping forces.

On the night of 16/17 August 1966, the Viet Cong fired a barrage of shells into Nui Dat, wounding 24 Australians. Prior to this event, the Australians had become aware, from radio intercepts and sightings, that a large enemy force was operating close to the base. Australian patrols sent out specifically to find the Viet Cong had not encountered the force.

On 18 August 1966 D Company of 6RAR was patrolling in the area of the Long Tan rubber plantation when, at about 3.15pm, the lead platoon (11 Platoon, commanded by 2Lt Gordon Sharp, a national serviceman) encountered a small group of Viet Cong who fled leaving one of their number killed by the Australians. The aggressive patrolling continued until, at about 4.08pm, the main body of the Viet Cong 275 Regiment was encountered. The Viet Cong attacked vigorously with mortars, rifle and machine gun fire.

In pouring rain, the Australians returned fire with platoon weapons and artillery which was firing from the Nui Dat base, some five kilometres to the west. Close air support was also called for but couldn't be used because the target was unable to be identified accurately in the conditions.

At 5pm D Company's commander, Major Harry Smith, radioed for ammunition resupply. Two RAAF Iroquois helicopters which happened to be at Nui Dat to transport a concert party were tasked and flew at tree top level into the battle area where they successfully delivered the sorely needed boxes of ammunition.

The combination of aggressive fire from D Company soldiers plus devastating artillery fire from Nui Dat had swung the battle in the Australians' favour but the Viet Cong continued to manoeuvre to gain the upper hand. Meanwhile, A Company of 6RAR had been ordered to move to the support of the beleaguered D Company.

They did so mounted in armoured personnel carriers from 1st APC Squadron which forded a flooded stream and then shortly afterward encountered a substantial enemy force.

Although the Viet Cong could still be seen massing in failing light at 6.55pm as the relief force arrived in the D Company area, the enemy force melted away as darkness descended. The battle of Long Tan was over.

The Australians consolidated their position for the night and then commenced evacuation of their wounded using the lights from APCs to guide in helicopters. During the night the Viet Cong cleared many of their wounded and dead from the battle field. A number of the wounded Australians lay there all through the long terrifying night, as the Viet Cong moved around them.

Morning revealed that the Viet Cong force, estimated at 2,500, had been badly mauled. 245 Viet Cong bodies were found in the battle area. It was apparent that the Viet Cong commanders had failed to appreciate the effectiveness of artillery fire and had paid dearly as a result.

The Australians had lost 18 killed, 17 from D Company (including the young platoon commander of 11 platoon) and one from 1st APC Squadron, and 24 wounded.

Not sure when I'll be back, so please keep checking the site .

I've been blogging now for 6 months to the day and need a few weeks at least to spend ignoring the "world" a bit.

Spending time in nature and reconnecting with the things in my life that are exclusively important.
Especially when the world is rapidly changing.

Thank you to those who visit here and read what i blog about and many thanks to you all for your comments and support, it gives me much hope in humanity and the calibre of people that are out there :)

I will be in to check for comments and reply but i won't be posting up any new material for a while though.
I've made some wonderful friends from all over the world doing this blogging and am blessed for that.

Norway Gunman Called POLICE from UTOYA?

This is an interesting twist...

This would be the first time in history that a "madman"...in the act of commiting a massacre, would call the police..

Where is the BLOOD? there should be litres..

Was he calling up to "report" to his handlers?

Was he ringing them to let them know "mission accomplished"?

Was he dialing the police number to ask for more amo?

Some back up perhaps?

Norway gunman 'called police' during massacre

Anders Behring Breivik, who has confessed to the twin attacks in Norway on July 22, claims he called police during the massacre of 69 people on the island of Utoeya, his lawyer has told Norwegian public broadcaster NRK.

"He has explained (during a police interrogation Friday) that he called police from Utoeya, but I don't know if that is the case," said Geir Lippestad, who is defending the 32-year-old rightwing extremist.

A call to police could explain some witness accounts from survivors of the bloodbath, saying they heard Behring Breivik speaking on the phone or a walkie-talkie.
Most of the 69 people killed on the island were teenagers attending a youth summer camp hosted by the ruling Labour Party, while another eight people were killed earlier after Behring Breivik set off a car bomb outside government offices in the capital.

Oslo police could not be immediately reached for comment on Behring Breivik's claim he called them.

They meanwhile said earlier on Monday they had gathered all the mobile phones, computers and cameras found on Utoeya as evidence, and were analysing them to trace the killer's movements on the island.

The obvious question arises as to the degree to which the ideology of right wing extremism – neo-fascism – has penetrated the police and security forces, especially the upper echelons? This level of “inactivity” raises more questions than it answers. What it suggests is that the Social Democrats only control part of the Government – the legislative, while the neo-fascists influence the state apparatus. "(end snip)
