Cheers A13. To me the whole NHS sequence appeared to be a huge 'fuck you' to the current Tory government, which is intending to sack NHS staff and then re-employ them on lower wages and with less pension rights. It is also keen on destroying and selling off as much as possible of the NHS. This must have felt like a huge embarrassment for the government and and as such I have to admit I was rather impressed by this.

I read what John here says in his comment and it makes complete sense to me. I read what you have to say, A13, and, I am sorry, but it just does not add up. That engineer played by Kennet Branagh is definately supposed to be Isembard Kingdom Brunel. If you google him for image, you will find photographs of him wearing that same type of tall hat. He read from Shakespeare's "Tempest", the fact that this book is red, does not transform it into a "red shield" and this figure into "Rothschild". The use of red is to contrast with the figure's black clothes, this is to make it visually more appealing, remember Danny Boyle is a film maker. If need there be for more explanation for the colour red, than we can find it in Danny Boyle's anti-Tory stance in his support for the British NHS, as noted by John. Moths and scarey characters from children's literature as symbols of santanic illuminati, does not wash for me either. Sorry A13.

I see what you are saying, and i guess that not being British, i wouldn't know about the NHS and about British history too well..so i apologise for being a bit over the top..but mind you it was my first thoughts noted down when i saw it..and that was at 4am in the morning..BUT, that doesn't stop me from wondering about the use and symbolism of these scary characters..I'm sure that they were in there for a reason..maybe i'm way off the mark, and thanks for pointing this out to me...it's always good to have feedback when unpacking that's for sure.

Lots of Hospital Beds, Nurses, A Massive Baby Skull, 7 Young People Receiving the Flame from 7 Olympic Legends, who received the Flame from 5 Time Olympic Rowing Legend STEVE REDGRAVE (suggesting ST.EVE BLOOD GRAVE). There were other endless symbolic features as well. However, death, sickness, pollution, and sacrifice seemed to be the theme of the day.
This weekend, on the day that the Olympic Games actually start, July 28-29 or the 9th of Av in Israel , is the Jewish holiday Tisha B’Av.
It is in remembrance of five horrible events that all fell on the 9th day of Av. The two most notable events being the destruction of the Two Temples of Jerusalem. Av is the 11th month on the Hebrew civil calendar. So all of these things happened on a 9/11. So this weekend is a 9/11 weekend coinciding with the start of The Olympics. Jachin and Boaz and The Olympics all at once!
A tribute to the NHS would hardly be as dark and twisted as this opening ritual...ceremony. You are right A, it's the usual creatures sneering at us. Perhaps they intend to blow up a children's hospital somewhere. They've done far worse over the decades and centuries.

I havn't got a clue what the giant baby is about; as for prophecies, well past experience shows, such as Nostradamus with his prediction of something horrible for the 7th month of 1999, that not all prophecies prove prophetic. We will just have to wait this one out and see.

O.K, my take on this. It is a big arena. If you want to show Children's medicine, if you brought on a real baby, it would get lost, you need something very big to catch the eye.

Also there they talk about the fact that this pioneering children's hospital was founded a century before the birth of the National Health Service, and was funded by donations. Something that continues to this day. In this Wikipedia link they mention that the children's author J.M. Barrie, who invented Peter Pan assigned his copyright from his book and his play to the Great Ormond Street Hospital. It is this fact that provided the "hook" on which Danny Boyle linked British children's literature to children's hospitals - included somewhere in the mele would have been the villain "Captain Hook" from Peter Pan.
So the giant baby is not a reference to a revival of a Moloch cult of child burning or sacrifice or anything remotely like that. But there was so much visual content, that I feel sure that someone somewhere will find something else they will think is really really "spooky"or "satanic".

This is my third time in very quick secession. The reason I comment again, is that I re-read your post, namely the addition about the giant baby and followed through on your link. I saw references to Rosemary's baby and Milton's Pandemonium, and that's as far as I got.
Someone once said to me, get a computer to throw up, completely at random, three images, and the human mind is such that it will be able to instantly build a connection. Some time ago I bought a book called "The Hunt for the Golden Hare" by Bamber Gascoine, 1983, it chronicles the almost hysterical interest that was aroused by a treasure hunt in the form of a book called Masquerade written and illustrated by Kit Williams

of which over 2 million copies were sold in the UK. The illustrations provided a series of cryptic clues to the buried location of a golden treasure, a hare fashioned by Kit Williams. Some became so convinced that their interpretation was "correct" that not even the author's assurance that they were going up the wrong path could convince them.
I think this is EXACTLY, what is happening now over the symbolism of the Opening Ceremony of the London Olympic Games. To some people it will become an object of such fascination, and individual interpretation that absolutely nothing, including an individual explanation from Danny Boyle, including "No I never meant this" , will ever deflect them.

I did not watch but if I understand what Ralph is saying, the Olympic ceremony viewed by a billion people (?) around the world was used as a political statement lost on just about everyone outside UK? That would be 1) a tremendous wasted opportunity to program, even given that Boyle was trying to show the nice commie England that he believes in, tolerant multicultural and gay friendly like a good NWO canary. But still, kind of obscure for the rest of the planet watching. Also 2) rather risky to plan a ceremony of that scale, taking years to put together, on a political message, seeing how those tend to change with the winds? Unless you are sure they won't change due to the power of your sponsors who hired you and paying you no doubt a fabulous amount of money to get your message across to a billion people. But yeah you can certainly ask the guy and take his word for it. He just loves England.
So what is the message? Did we have any consensus what this freakshow meant, or was the point to simply load up a billion heads with archetypal symbols that will go to work on the subconscious mind, preparing the world for ... What exactly....children in hospital beds? Winged creatures milling around... Wtf?
The Bewildering nature of this freak spectacle is no doubt a feature, not a bug. Let the little people go off and ponder their minds. For me it is simply not something I can get exited about. What does excite me, is that by reading my local newspapers in the UK and watching my television here, I do not seem to find much discussion of who it is that pays for the games and who it is that profits from the games. It seems for this I have to go to a programme made in the United States, a one hour TV programme every weekday, and watch what they had to say on last Thursday 26 July and today, Tuesday 31 July.
